Re: Possible rack and pinion conversion

I got stealth a festiva manual rack as it was the best measurement wise at work (work at a 9acre wrecking yard so a few to choose from) When it gets bumped up on priority on the list hes going to be the test subject to see if it can be viable on hulk, then if successful mine will get the same treatm...

Re: I DESPERATELY NEED HELP! (4g52 rebuild)

Hmmmmmmmm that might mean i have the GN sigma 4g54 block then. Has the magna style blanked off hump at the rear, but has that weird sized sump on it. Year stamp on the block adds up too. Interesting...

Re: Maverick

Been slack lately. Lot of other commitments including twin babies but getting another push of motivation lately. Took out column/pedal box and see what needs to be done to fit booster in. Thinking best way is to cut out a section of the firewall where booster mounts and make it a removable panel tha...

Damn thats a nice starion. I drive the VR on midnight wangan 5 as well, definitely in top 3 all time favorite cars for me.
ONLY thing i would change would be to throw some wide watanabes on it, otherwise its perfect.
If you ever decide to part with it down the road let me know ;)

Re: Collision safety tests?

i would imagine they wouldnt be the best in an accident as they are full metal and dont really have anything designed to properly absorb the impact over transferring it into the cabin.
I am also now curious though!

Yea its fine to remove it, a lot of people remove them (me included) for lack of room to go thermal fans. As far as im aware there is no detrimental effect.

Re: G32B questions

Depends how much coin and how much determination you have. Cheapest option is to take the diaphragm off and take it into somewhere to match up and replace it. If i didnt have a spare one lying around i was going to upgrade to a 32/36 weber. Can get one + adaptor plate for under 500. This is all subj...

Re: G32B questions

Had the same issue. I think its called the second throat carburetor diaphragm. Doesnt hold vacuum and therefore doesnt open second throat at revs and thus runs out of puff when the car needs more air/fuel.

Diff is now home waiting to be modded to fit. Took stock booster/master out to see whats what and its gonna fit perfect, even using the stock booster spacer on the inside of the firewall as a clamp on the other side. Re: Rubber at rear suspension??

Its a bump stop. Essentially stops the diff from smashing against the chassis when you forget to slow down for a speed bump. Common thing to perish on older cars as they get repeatedly hit. A lot of different styles and designs but a lot of them will work on yours as a standard solid diff. Local pic...

Re: put oil on head bolt threads?

Its personal preference. In a standard 4g32 it would probably help them thread in a little easier if nothing else, but not necessary, but wont hurt. When you start getting into high performance engines and head studs etc its best not to use motor oil and use a proper assembly fluid as i understand t...

205/55/15 which is technically a slight stretch but i reckon i can get some 265s under there with minor mods.
Never drove on them - had to go hilux 5 stud shortly after i got them. Did a full turning circle without scrubbing though.

If the scan tool doesnt tell them whats wrong, 90% of 'mechanics' cant fix it. I will also admit, as a mechanic by trade i knew very little about the niches of an older carby car and a few times had to take it to my old boss as i had no idea how to do the fiddly things. Problem is a lot of cars toda...

Re: Wheel backspace and offset For LB hatch

i can tell you in an LC, i comfortably fit 15x8 -20 in front and rear. I think with flares and right tyres/offset id be able to get 15x10s in there. Not sure the difference between LB and LC though

2 pins towards the big end at the front that just pull out, and then the rear just slides forwards from memory. Being so old and plastic nobs, they probably will break unless you get a miracle tbh. 40 yr old plastic isnt the strongest haha
