Re: Rego changeover
A main part of a Blue slip in NSW is an Identity check. If you've got previous rego papers from another state that show the engine and body numbers (and hopefully the weight) you should be OK. Otherwise, make sure the numbers can be read on the car - ie no grime etc. I had to put my Volvo on a weigh...

Re: Disk Brake conversion.
Yep, the front will come up about 2". Put in some KingSprings (you'll need to capture them by using different strut inserts - detailed on this site somewhere). Also, best to get the steering arms as well as the struts because the Galant steering arms are likely to foul the calipers at full exte...

NSW Engineers certificate :-(
I'm told that as of tomorrow an Engineers Certification will no longer be recognised as Compliance.
Also told that he RTA apparently havent released the new way of complying modified vehicles yet, but I guess it may be the VSCCS.
If anyone knows more about this please let me know

Hi all,
Should Limited Slip Diffs lock in reverse?
Or is the slip only limited when going forward?

Incidentally, its almost guaranteed that when you pull the guards off to fit the RRPs you'll find rust in the A frame. Cut it out and fix it sooner rather than later...

Re: drum brakes GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
This has happened to me before - I just got a rasp and filed down the shoes till they fit.... Give them time to bed in.
Check the drums dont have a lip forming on them first - getting that machined out may save you the trouble.
Not much fun but....

Re: What head will fit 4G33
Just be aware that the 1300 Saturn Chain drive is a shorter stroke tha the rest. It probably wont make any difference to whether it will fit though Just make sure that the exhaust ports are the same shape as the one you are replacing (or youll need to get matching headers/manifold).

Re: Vin number does not match number plate
The RTA DO make mistakes. When I took my bike in to reregister (after it had been off the road for a while) they told me that the model Name I gave them wasnt on the list and the bike must be an import. I pointed out that I'd owned it for 35 years and never had a problem, even registering it in NSW....

When you get the DCOEs set up, I'd LOVE to know what the jetting/air correction and so on is
(I have a pair waiting to go on my GA/4G32 and need a good starting point)

Re: hey guys im trying to find a suitable front spring for my GA
I put Lovells Lows in mine. They are quite low (lip to axle centre is 35.5cm using GH Scorp struts and steering arms) and stiff (like RALLY stiff). Standard inserts wont capture them (by about 1cm). If I were doing it again for street use I'd probably use King Lows or, IIRC - check first, front spri...

Re: What paint type should I use
Personally I like acrylic, probably in part because I'm not a pro :D With acrylic you can muck it up and all you do is cut it back and try again (not as easy with the others) Also, I like the finish that polished acrylic gives - to me it looks more authentic. Also, as it weathers, it gets this nice ...

Re: Please Help.. Aircon parts????
GAs didnt come with A/C but some GC/GDs did. So did some GTOs. The GTO under-dash unit will fit in a GA (just). Ive been looking at this for awhile, but have been stopped by the lack of a compressor mount and crank pulley.

Re: HELP! Car shaking badly!!!!
Another thing to check is that they put the tailshaft back in the same position (relative to the diff and box) that it used to be (if they disconnected it). Tailshafts are usually balanced to a particular position. If you rotate the shaft (relative to the diff of g/box), it will shake like a bastard...

IIRC the 1300 Saturn (short stroke ) had a nitrided crank and that would make it a decent swap for a large bore/short stroke revver
