Re: thinking 16v astron head
keep us posted on how you go sounds interesting, but why not just turbo the 2.6?
given the design principals of a diesel it wont run as well as you think on petrol.
will give you way more torque and power than any form of NA youll fit there. and be far more cost effective.

Re: need some help with motor build
you can get good power reliably out of a stock magna engine. i had a dead stock magna from U-pull it. i put dished astron1 pistons (with over 250,000km on them) in it and ran 18 PSI, made 210kw at the treads like that as a daily for over 12 months. then i upped the rev limiter to 7k and ran 22psi......

is that cold idle or up to temp idle?
what viscosity oil is in there?
70psi isnt too high. what does it go to when revved?
I even shimmed my oil pump when i built mine for higher pressure than std

these are in a different league to the 595EVO's 595s are a street semi, these are a full comp semislick. they suck when theyre cold, theyre great when theyre hot, they wont last long driven on the street. and as a race tyre they change their consistency alot compared to other semislicks as they wear...

if you can, try and get hold of a electric pump from a 80-91 subaru Carby, MY and L series cars.
theyre a pressure set positive flow diaphram pump that will flow more than the crappy click click pumps (although it also goes click click, its not the same)

dunno about a VN, but i ha look under my VX and the commo is Drastically wider than the siggy, so its highly unlikely its doable without MAJOR mods to either or both.

Re: Building turbo manifolds
ill definitely be using stainless for the flanges. though ill have to investigate the steam pipe further. i would prefer it as its easier to work with than stainless, stronger, better thermal properties and probably wont need bracing like the SS but i dont have any contacts for it, i can likely make...

Re: Would you tow a car trailer with a Magna?
Gaz, i was well within the weight limit of the magnas towing capacity, it was fine to tow with, weight balance was ok. traction was just crap as the weight lifts off the front on accel. normal driving and braking was no different to the commo. were talking a late model V6 manga here not an early 4 b...

yeah thats the type of bender ive got, i dont want to waste time with it, id rather pay someone and have it done in a flash.
only for theroll bar its easier to get someone to do it, also might save me a length of tube if i screw it up the first time.
