Re: gearbox to engine thread pitch info
I ended up using bolts I stole out of one of my parts cars. From memory i think they were the steering box and idler arm mounting bolts that are longer to go through the chassis rails.

Re: '74 Colt Galant sedan restomod
I'd really love to know what carbs/throttle bodies suit this manifold as well. I have one here thats almost identical, but it's been modified with a custom inlet plenum to suit Magna injection onto the Astron I head.

GJ Sigmas still ran an Astron I, but in the Scorps they started using the Astron II in 1980 with the release of the GJ Scorp.

Steering Column Bearing for PS Swap
It's fairly well known that if you want to put power steering into a Sigma or Scorpion then you need to get the steering column as well as they are shorter to suit the larger power steering box. With my recently purchased GE convertible I found the steering column had been badly butchered to suit a ...

Re: VTEC fitted into a galant
I have seen a couple of 4g92 Mivec engines fitted into LA Lancers in the past.
I bought a 4G92 SOHC engine years ago to test but the head, dizzy, etc was completely different and there is no way the SOHC version would fit.

Thats the number you want. Even though it is 2 lines on the block, most rego places will condense it down to a single line/engine number, EG. G63BGH4***

Re: Matt's Red GN
I have an unused pair of guard lowers here. Bought them from a company that was clearing out some of their old stock, so I got the pair for $10 They say GJ Sigma on them, but I'm fairly sure they would suit a GN too if you want them for the $10 +postage.

Re: ENGINE NUMBERS
Thats if it's an Astron, and even then factory Sigma turbo blocks were different. If the engine is one of the 500 factory GH Sigma turbo engines then the engine number is stamped on the flat horizontal surface above the upper balance shaft. However I believe Scorpy's Sigma is an import with the Star...

Re: GE Convertible
Another small update. For the last couple of weeks I have been trying to track down an issue when the car would randomly stall at idle, and surge and miss whilst cruising or accelerating. I started off with removing a bunch of dodgy ignition wire that someone had put in for various kill switches. Th...

Re: GE Convertible
This isn't a Sunchaser. To the best of my knowledge they only used GK and GL Scorps. The roof on this is a completely different design, as well as the way they have gone about adding additional strength under the floor, etc. I've been into Scorps for around 16-17 years now. In all that time this is ...

Re: GE Convertible
Just vinyl I think. Seats are in excellent condition. Door trims coverings are OK, but the masonite backing is falling apart and will need replacing. Worst looking part is the carpet but that is easy enough to replace. I knew getting it would be a bit of an adventure, but life would be pretty boring...

Re: galant track rods (drag kink)
Both myself and my father have had the same issue, as well as others on here.
All that my father and myself have done is add an extra rubber seal to take up the gap between the track rod and the pitman arm to keep the grease in and any crap out. They still seem to work fine.

As some of my Facebook friends probably already know I bought myself a GE Scorp convertible a couple of weeks ago. Those last couple of weeks have resulted in well over 3000k's of trips to look at, and pick up the car and parts that come with it and a heap of time and parts to get it back on the roa...

Fusable Link? It's a short red wire that connects to the positive battery terminal, and designed to blow if there is a bad short or similar somewhere.

The Lancer strut tops will not fit the Galant, however the Galant ones should fit onto the Lancer strut allowing the complete strut assembly to be fitted into the Galant.

Re: scorpion diff into gh can it be done
Possibly, but it would be a lot more work.
The springs sit on top of the diff so there are extra brackets for them, the shock mounts are different, and possibly the suspension arm mounts too. It has been done though.

Re: scorpion diff into gh can it be done
Yep. I did it a couple of years ago. You need to use the diff out of a GH Scorp, they are the stronger 10 bolt setup, but have all the correct mountings to suit a GH Sigma. Only change suspension wise is that you need to use the upper control arms out of the Scorp. The brake hose to the body is a sl...

Re: Fitting new winscreen on gd galant
I gave it a good clean as it had some white powdery stuff on it, but that was it. It seals fine with no leaks.
Apparently this only works with a brand new seal, and if you try and use it a second time it will need sealant.

Re: Fitting new winscreen on gd galant
I have done it. Used the rope method where you sit the windscreen and seal over the opening, and pull a piece of rope through the seal to pull it inside. It took a couple of attempts trying it by myself and I kept failing, but once I had a helper that could hold some pressure on the screen from the ...

Re: Sigma turbo 15" on GC Galant???
Yep. I was running a set of Sigma turbo rims on a GC wagon. No issues with standard struts, or with GH Scorp struts fitted. Tyres were 195/50/15, which is close to the original rolling diameter so the speedo still reads almost the same.

Re: 4G32 Mitsubishi Distributor vs. Bosch Distributor
I was under the impression that the resistor dropped the voltage whilst running to around 7 volts. This meant the the points and so on lasted longer. On starting/cranking it allowed a higher voltage through to provide a stronger spark for easier starting.

Re: How To: Fit a VR4 4g63 engine
The manifold I used on the conversion in the pics had been cut and welded to turn it into a 'high-mount' setup. Another option is an adaptor plate that bolts to the head, and has a new bolt pattern/studs that allows the manifold to be bolted on upside down. The November 2000 issue of Hot 4's has a h...

My Father in law has done the wheels on one side of his Navara as a test. It's been on there for about 3 months, and I couldn't see any damage at all. He does over 1000k's a week driving through central NSW so it should be a good test of it's durability.
