Re: 40mm Motorbike carbs on a triton (2.6L Astron)

Hi, are you able to make me this quad carby setup please? Or at least give me a "shopping list" of parts for me to buy. I think the only thing I might need you to make for me is the intake manifold, the rest I might be able to buy separately. My only issue is my Sigma is auto and I would l...

Re: 2.6 Magna into GE

I think the Scorpion got the Astron II earlier than the Sigma too, not sure if it was as early as the GJ though, but the GK definately had it. I found the early model Astron II Scorp has a slightly different intake manifold which only suits Astron II heads with the smaller rear water passage, if you...

Re: [VIC] Mopar Nationals Dec 7th 2013

Not sure but I'm tempted. Hopefully I'll have the Weber carby and sports exhaust fitted by then so it's not so embarrassing. If I get a quarter mile time in the 16s I'll be happy :)

Re: Gj auto into ge sigma.

Is your GE and the GJ both autos? Assuming they are, if they are different it means you must have a Torqueflite MA904A in your GE and a BorgWarner on the GJ engine. Both are 3 speed auto transmissions, but the Torqueflite is much stronger and is basically a slightly smaller version of the 904 found ...

Re: wheel bearing change

All done. Getting it all off was easy, the hard part was bolting up the three nuts and pressure washers that hold the brakes and axle to the diff housing. I had to remove both shoes to make it easier but it was still tricky. Took me about 3 hours!

I also found that the Datsun 1600 (510) is very very similar to the early Sigma/Galant 3 bolt setup:

Re: Bigger rims???

Front struts can also be bent. I've worked in a steering, suspension and brake shop as a mechanic and my boss (who had over 30 years of experience) told me it was fairly common with Sigmas, Galants, etc. So he offered to check mine for free and they were a little bent. He had a special hydraulic too...

Re: Camshaft/rockers

It all depends if you want adjustable (astron 1) or hydraulic ones (Astron II) or roller rockers from a TR-TS Magna. Note that the camshafts are not interchangeable and in the case of the roller rockers one I think you need to cut the rear part of it because the Magnas use that to run the water pump...

The very early model GE Sigma sedans also had the 8 bolt banjo-type japanese diff, same as the early GE Scorpions and Galants. Mine has one :)

Re: 2.6 Magna into GE

What he said :). I've done this same conversion a couple of times now. The easiest way is to buy a donor GN Sigma and then swap all the bits over. I just finished fitting an Borg Warner auto Astron II 2.6 into my GE Sigma SE that has a Torqueflite MA904. Just swap the torque converters, bolt engine ...

I did this conversion in my blue GE Sigma sedan. From memory I cut a small section of the tunnel so that no part of it rubs on the gear lever mount. And yes you will need the auto tailshaft.

Re: Ge rear shocks

Just wanted to add, I found that GK to GN Sigma sedan rear shocks ARE the same as GE-GH sedan ones, the only difference is the GE and GH uses two small circular rubber bushes on the top mount and the GK to GN ones have a small metal tube (removable) inserted on the bottom mount. How do I know? I jus...

Good idea. Volvo 240s also have a similar strut-to-firewall bars setup, they are bolt-on. I've got a couple of these bars in the garage somewhere, I'll look into adapting these maybe too. Good idea!

Re: wheel bearing change

Great read, it's a life saver! I have to change one of my seals (LH one) in my GE Sigma, which has the jap (banjo type) diff in it like the Galants, Lancers, etc. Looks much easier without having to change the bearings!

Re: Air Conditioning info please

I have a similar dilemma. My 1978 GE Sigma SE has factory (or dealer) fitted a/c. It uses a weird fan switch that sits where the normal fan switch goes on the dash, but to turn the a/c on and off, it uses a remote switch that sits to the right of the steering wheel under the dash vent next to the sw...

Re: Sigma GE Wiring- Can Gregory's Be Trusted

I've found the Gregory's wiring diagrams to have quite a few errors on it and do not cover air-conditioning either. I still use it for my GE in conjunction with my proper dealership manual, if you have a GE Sigma, I suggest you get a set. There are four volumes and it's much more comprehensive than ...
