Re: LC Lancer Alternator swap
I've done similar before. I modded a TP Magna alt (about 85A) to use in a Scorp. Had to make up a spacer to get the pulleys in line, as well as modding the wiring to suit. Otherwise it was basically a bolt on job.

I used to run 225/60/14 on 14x7 +10, and 265/50/14 on 14x8 +0. You could probably go to an 8" rim on the front if you are careful with offset, maybe even wider with a stretched tyre. On the rear the 265 was flush with the outer guard, but still had a heap of room inside. I have no doubt that yo...

Re: My GH Scorpion rebuild
The GH and GJ should have the same basic diff, but there are differences in how the hand brake cables work (single in GH, twin in GJ) and the rear spring location (lower control arm in GH, on diff in GJ). Brakes, diff centre, and so on are all the same and can be swapped around.

BP in Australia is called Jamaica Blue Metallic. MMC code is B22, so yes, the Bright Blue Poly off that pic.

As far as I am aware there is no such thing as a factory Scorp LSD, however there are LSD's available that will fit. They are extremely rare and not easy to find. Easiest would be an EX Lancer LSD, but i have heard of Starion, Pajero and L300 LSD centres being made to fit. If you can track down an E...

Look for the earlier setup off a TN or TP Magna. It's smaller and will require less work to fit into a Galant engine bay.

Must be why I ride a Z50. LOL. Actually I'm just slow everywhere on a bike. Although i like going fast as I've got older I'm trying less and less to push the limits. Having only recently got my bike licence I haven't really had the urge to constantly push my self harder and find the limits like when...

Awesome day, minus a short fright on the way home. Driving along the freeway next to a 4wd, heard a massive bang followed by thick smoke. Thought for a second the old girl had blown on its maiden voyage, but I was relieved to look next to me and see the 4wd had blown a tyre, pretty spectacularly, i...

Re: Installing Windscreen Questions
The Sigmas don't use rubber on the front and rear screens. They re glued in with sealant. Leaving it in the sun may help, but it won't just lift out. Generally I cut them out with some fine high tensile wire, or alternatively cut them out with a stanley knife. Beware that using the stanley knife is ...

One of the funniest things I have ever seen was a guy destroy the tailshaft in a Falcon panelvan around 10-15 years ago. I was at work at the time and heard a guy yelling out the front. About 1/2 the street went out to see what was going on as he got in the drivers seat, started it up, revved the ab...

I'd prefer Freemans Waterhole over the F3 servos. It seems more relaxed and you won't have everyone driving round and round to get a spot near each other. Still can get food, etc as well for those that want to.

Re: Towing with a sigma
I once towed a complete GJ Sigma on a hire trailer, from Mittagong, through the middle of Sydney, all the way to Maitland. Around 260km, not including getting there in the first place. Towcar was a manual GK Scorp. A few months later i ended up parting it out, finding out in the process that the tow...

I once towed a 2000kg, fully enclosed car trailer, behind the Galant. It didn't like it at all, but I only had to go about 20k's so i just pottered along till I got there. The Lantra on a hire trailer was much easier in comparison. http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/557341_3713211791218_9...

Re: Lexus V8 conversion
You could put one in a manual shell. Plenty of people, myself included, have fitted a W58 into manual Sigmas before. I just did some quick measurements, and using a 10mm thick adaptor between the 1uz bellhousing and W58 will result in the engine bellhousing face being about 10 mm closer to the firew...

Re: Lexus V8 conversion
That Scorp is the main one I know of, last i heard it was for sale still not complete.
It's been done to a couple of Starions. The engine bay is very similar to the Sigma/Scorp.

Looks like I'd better start doing some work on the wagon to get it ready. Any Sat or Sun is fine with me as long as I get a few weeks notice so I can plan things around it.

The 4G63 would probably be easiest to make big power from for drifting, but it would probably be 'expected' by the drift crowd. A hot 2.6 with EFI and a good turbo setup will still make big power for drifting, and would probably have 1/2 of them scratching their heads as to why it doesn't have one o...

Re: Factory Turbo setup on a AUTO?
I used ia factory turbo setup in an auto Scorp. Ran around for about a year with no major issues. Flooring it while on the freeway was fun - basically no lag at all. Standard auto held up fine, but i had to modify the kickdown setup. With it disconnected it was changing gears way too early, and slip...

Then the diff is on it's way out. I've seen a few that do this. As the gears and shafts wear then things start to jam up and make it act like a locker when under a lot of load. It's only a matter of time before it dies completely.

Those new laws don't apply to cars older then a certain age. Galants are well and truly older so no issues with that.

That was my initial thought, but when I looked closer they are different. It has the ends of the top tank angled, EH one doesn't, and there doesn't appear to be the cutaway in the bottom as the outlet is closer to the side of the radiator. It looks more like the HR, HK, HT HG one here http://www.eba...

Where did you get the radiator from? I need to get a new one before summer really hits and was thinking of going for an alloy one.

The standard diff will not last - low K borg warner behind a VR4 conversion was going OK, till I tried doing a burnout. Did a single legged for about 5 seconds, then kicked doubles for for about 2 seconds before going bang in a big way. Totally shattered the insides. A GH Scorp diff is a bolt in opt...
