Re: 3 Galant leaf springs?
To use the wagon rear springs with a sedan/hardtop axle housing, it is necessary to enlarge the locating hole in the spring seats on the diff housing. You will find the dowels in the insulators are bigger. The spring leaves are also wider, so using the wagon lower plate is the easiest but this needs...

Re: Sigma 2 litre engine
The 4G63 is a better engine. For normally aspirated, a Twincam 4g63 would be good but a single cam wouldn't (personal opinion expressed). Go a Magna 2.6L, they are all narrow block and have a lot more torque. YES, there will be a bit more work required to get every thing in and running, but there a...

Re: Distributor part numbers - GC/GD ?
Many of the older models don't have the original distributor still fitted, but they all (3 types) interchange. GA's originally had GM210 contact set, GB/GC/GD's mostly Bosch GB534 except hardtops which had GM216 or use GH203. The 210 and 216 are quite different, the former being much smaller..... La...

Wow....................... Getting back to Nath76LA's original post..... The A72/73 Lancers (or whatever else you may want to call the original design), were never sold in the USA, so are extremely rare there. The fact that this is a GSR version makes it doubly rare. Australian 2 door LA came in &qu...

Just Googled Mal. Seems as though his business was sold at least 4 years ago.
He operated it with old Mitsubishi stalwart, Barry Lloyd................
Looks as though he retired to go rallying, been in some recent classics and Targa Tasmania.

The polyurethane ones may have changed over the years so check that it flexes easily with full suspension travel. A mate had a LB years ago, fitted Nolathane bushes and it kept snapping the bar so he reverted to rubber bushes.

I've been around a-while but not sure what you mean by "caster bar". I assume you mean "radius rod". Please clarify.................. A tip for you... Don't use polyurethane bushes on the front mount of radius rods....not enough flexibility there. You'll keep snapping radius rods...

Re: Sigma 2 litre engine
L300 4G63 are narrow block....been there done that in early Galants etc etc.
The 4G52 is somewhat longer than the 4G63.... clearance fan to radiator may be a problem.
Why change? The 4G63 is a better engine.

Nice history there......What happened to the original heater? I eventually bought a new GA in 1972, owned it for 8 years, sold it to a mate (who previously owned a 2 litre GTO).He had the GA another 8 or 9 years. It would have done more than 350,000km including being fitted with a 45DCOE Weber and f...

77GDWagon, Thanks for that info, cleared up some grey areas. So my #4 is a C1, goes very well with the twin 4G35 carbs. It was originally bought from Japan about 1974, cost about $450AUD then! The #6 was in all 4G32GS belt drive motors to Europe....no pollution gear there at that time... '79 to '81....

Roger, No argument here, I didn't expect a GTO or GS (#2 or #6) cam to be anywhere near a #5 in lift or timing. Just trying to identify some of the cheaper/more available options. The #4 I have is, I think, classified as a mild track cam and is closer to the #5, which one might classify as a rally c...

That's the 10/74 publication which is a Chrysler Engine one, reprinted from the Jap one I would think. Covers 4G33, 4G32 and 32GS engines. (Galant A53, A54 and Lancer A72) Those figures you have for the #2 are the same as GTO cam. Do you think they had 2 different #2s, early & late? Baffling. Ro...

Re: 4g32GS ?
Shuggy, Bought the 4G37 (factory genuine) pistons from an engine reco business in Melbourne. He informed me he had built some 4G32s with these pistons, and rallied one himself. Maybe, to get a reasonable comp. ratio, enlarging the combustion chamber slightly would work better than machining the pist...
Re: 4g32GS ?
If you're looking for 10.5/11:1 or there abouts, try 4G37 pistons in overbored (around 4mm) 4G32 with 4G32 head.....
I've got 3 sets of new 4G37 pistons and rings of varying sizes.
PM me if you are interested.
Roger
PS... One set belongs to Nath75LA, so negotiation essential.

Re: Pajero 4d55 diesel to 2.6 astron
ive always thought of using a diesel alternator with a vacuum pump to run constant vacuum to the rocker cover and do away with the pcv shit... would a 4d55 alternastor have the built in vacuum pump? You will likely find too much vacuum at the wrong time, end up sucking oil from the crankcase..........

Re: Pajero 4d55 diesel to 2.6 astron
A lot more to the conversion than you think.
Most important one is diff(s) ratio. The diesel is governed at 4000rpm (from memory) so you will find it is mated to higher ratios.
i.e. Your Pajero will be a slug.
Then there's power steer pump, oil pickup, etc etc

Zvon, What location are you? I dealt with the branch that used to be in Parramatta, staff there were very helpful. They fitted the hardtop screen using a GA/GB sedan seal which works OK (the only Galant seal available at the time). If your screen is original, the seal is probably rock hard so renewa...

Re: 4G32 Valve Spring
I think we're getting confused here, as the belt drive and chain drive use a different numbering sequence. No 6 for BELT DRIVE is definately 4G32GS and 4G32 for EC according to the Jap manual dated 1981. According to 1980 manual, #6 is for GS and CAL (Chrysler Aust Ltd). The 1979 manual says #6 is G...
