Re: 4G54BT - TBI

Any MPI conversion will require an aftermarket ECU = $$$$. For the 2.0L, we use a Hyundai distributor, or for the 2.6L, we use the Australian Magna distributor which provides the crank angle & cylinder pulses for the ECU. No trigger wheel needed. More power......on the cheap, sorry can't be done...

Welcome back to the Sigma-Galant family. Your story has some similarities to mine, so I know what you've been through. Glad to hear you have remained loyal to your GE. Loyalty is sadly missing from our society these days. ;)

Re: 4G54BT - TBI

Australia got the Starion, but not with the 2.6 Astron engine, it came with a 2.0L 4G63 motor with the same unreliable TBI. Many Starion owners here have converted their 2.0's to MPI using manifolds from the early Hyundai Sonata, around 1988 - 1992, I think. This allows them to retain the turbo, but...

Wow, what a great idea. Have you any links to any websites that can provide more info so that we can possibly lobby the politicians here in SA for something similar.

Might be closer to reality than you think, I'm considering staying with 4G63 for the new Rally car, but going G54B turbo for present autox car. Just considering options at this stage. ;) ;)

Re: ge 4g62 sohc turbo conversion

As for the gearbox the block is a narrow gearbox housing so any 2L sigma box would suit fine. No idea what clutch you would need but any good clutch place would be able to help you once you have the engine and gearbox spline they will be able to get one to suit. Personally, I'd be using a Starion b...

Hi Brendon, this is my set up to fit over the EFI plenum chamber, but I had to cut out the ribs in the bonnet to make it fit. http://s462.photobucket.com/albums/qq341/peterbe12/P1030229-2.jpg http://s462.photobucket.com/albums/qq341/peterbe12/P1030230-2.jpg http://s462.photobucket.com/albums/qq341/p...

Re: Autocross options

I originally used my GJ Siggy as an Autocross car before converting it to a Rally car. A good driver can push these hard enough to be quite competitive & very reliable. After gutting the interior, plus removing everything that wasn't needed, then adding a roll cage, tipped the scales at 1200kg. ...

if i get a drum brake diff can i swap all the dics brakes over? or is it to hard? i looked at one today they have the same four bolts that hold the drums and the disc brakes. Yes, you can simply swap everything over, but you must also swap over your original disc brake axles to match up the caliper...

is there a diffrance in drum axels compared with disc?, my diff is a borgy! The axles are the same, BUT, the drum differs from the disc in the thickness of the collar that secures the wheel bearing to the axle to compensate for the fact that the disc brake caliper bracket is thicker than the drum b...

If you don't know how to set up a diff properly, its often cheaper & easier to replace the entire rear axle assembly with another from the wreckers or a donor car.

Am I showing my age, but these have been around for 40 years or more, and still look great. Regularly used on rally cars in the 70's, & still in use today. A very popular wheel with the guys running historic rally cars. Maybe they are like a fine wine, gets better with age. ;) ;)

Inlet manifold stud layout is different from AI to AII. A lot easier to find an AII head than trying to fabricate an adapter.

Spinning the tops around 180 degrees increases your camber by 1.5 degrees on each side which makes cornering nicer, BUT, makes straight ahead feel vague. Spin them back & check your steering again.

Matt, theres heaps of info on this forum on EFI conversions. I believe the only MPI manifold that will fit into an LC is the early Magna one from the TN & TP Magna's. As I've said before, its easier to go buy a complete donor Magna, & then you have everything you need, then dump what you don...

Re: Should i find a Jap 5 Speed?? Convince me!! :P

Jap 5 speeds were fitted to all 2.6 manual GN Sigmas, as they are a wide block gearbox. Some earlier models like GK had them as well. To do the swap, you will need the MMC clutch kit, rear cross member, tail shaft, & speedo cable. After you have been driving the BW box with the gear stick fallin...

Also all Magna heads (except the TM M1 head) have no lobe on the cam to operate the mechanical fuel pump, as they were EFI with electric fuel pumps. ;)
