Re: GA interior heater radiator valve repair?

Heater taps for GAs are unobtainium. Even the ones in the wreckers are no good any more. And yes, GB is different. The universal ones will work, but you might end up with a heap of pipe and right-angle bends under the glove box. I did this on mine - it worked fine. Getting the tap to match with the ...

No need for a drain hole in the wheel well if the plenum is in good nick - most are rusted out.
While you have the fibreglass happening, check it out :)

Re: Silly 4G32 oil question

Fwiw, I think the best insurance is changing the oil regularly - and, as suggested, checking for debris (and carbon). For me, cheap oil made it more likely I would do that more often. So, I agree with what's been written by the HP folk above - I've been here long enough to respect their views. Which...

Re: Silly 4G32 oil question

Penrite is good oil imho - I used it in my Ducati. However, the Ducati was a high performance motor. Unless your 4G32 has really been worked, especially the head, it probably doesn't qualify as a high performance motor. No offense meant. I love Saturns to bits. I've always used 20w50 from Woolworths...

Re: 4G32 Valve clearance ?

That engine sounds crook. Given that you've had work done to the head, I'd be checking the cam journals - 4G3x heads don't like extra valve spring pressure - they wear out - Can't adjust valves while that's happening. Worth a look.

Assuming chain drive, yes, as long as the 1600 head doesn't have the EGR slot running down the side.

Re: Factory side drafts

FWIW I have Aisan HF40Ds on my 4G32 chain. Sound great ! BUT - as above - parts dont exist - but full sets turn up every now and then. Also - starting without the choke butterflies (ie relying on the enrichment system) is difficult. And the 2 vacuum bodies that go with them are best retained rather ...

Re: 1600 turbo?

Chain drive? If what you want is power and torque - not worth the effort imho. Unless you want something that noone else has. Depends what you want from your motor really.
I have all the goods to build a 4G32 T (Chain) - decided to go NA.

Re: Ball joints: GA/B vs GC/D

Hmmmm
Thanks. I appreciate your reply.
I have a real mix-n-match: GC control arms, GH Scorp struts and steering arms. Lovells Lows. In a GA.
Just CANNOT get rid of the -ve camber :banh:
I'll start replacing things bit by bit heading back towards standard until the prob is sorted.

Ball joints: GA/B vs GC/D

Hi all,
What's the difference between ball joints on GA/B and GC/D. They have different part numbers (BJ116 and BJ122). I know the control arms are interchangeable (done it). Is it maybe something to do with the conical taper (into the steering arm) ?

Whoah ! Nice !
Standard GB struts?
If so, what are your brakes and coils? Are the springs captured?
(Still havent solved the camber problem with my Scorp struts on GA, so looking for an alternative).

Re: twin su's for a saturn

HF40Ds are the go IF you have all the parts and some spare seals as well AND you havent done too much to the motor AND you want something original. In my experience you'd best buy a couple of pairs and build one good set. Parts are made of unobtainium. SUs are more adaptable. BTW, there should be is...

Re: random problem when driving my galant

^^^Well there you go. Never knew about this^^^ :-)
Anyways, Id also try blowing back down the fuel line (towards the tank, from the engine bay). Ive had crud randomly block my fuel line and this fixes it for a while (until you can clean the tank and line out properly)
