I know Scorpions didn't have one, or at least the three I have didn't.
Anyway, how would you go about mounting one? Stock Sigma swaybar, Sigma lower trailing arms, attach it to the diff/body somehow? Or am I completely off?

If reverse is next to first then you have a BW, if it's under 5th you have a Jap box.

Re: 85 sigma lsd
Diff swap. There's no such thing as an LSD for a Sigma diff.
R31 diffs are cheap, strong and you can get LSD's for them, either that or you could use a Hilux or Commodore diff. Do a search, this topic has been covered many, many times.

Also, dash is mcfuckled, must get a dashmat.
On a similar note, anyone got a dash clock for one of these that isn't broken? Said fragged dash has warped around mine and broken the housing.

Re: Frankenstein's Monster- '81 Scorpion
Yep, this one :P Mind you, it's only been both registered and going for a total of three months in the entire time that I've owned it. The damn thing keeps grenading. Leaky heater core spewed the contents of the cooling system into the driver's footwell, it overheated and went all 7MGTE on me. Fixed...

Re: '81 Scorpion- IT LIVES!!!
Lol, it is a tad overdue :P Got it going day before yesterday, was excited as a fat kid that's been given an extra serve of cake lol. Making exhausts is a PITA. Need to fix the throttle pedal (is idling at 1.5k due to a dodgy idle fix I did when I first got the car), do the timing properly, re-solde...

Drove this today. Needs a wheel alignment, interior's still in a million pieces and had to take it easy because it's missing the flywheel dustcover and battery clamp, but still.

Re: thinking 16v astron head
First off, there's no way in hell I'd be towing a yacht with an L300. That's in big American-style pickup territory, or at the very least you'd want a turbodiesel Patrol/Landcruiser. The L300 just doesn't have the tare weight to tow something that heavy safely, and frankly, I think you'd be silly to...

That 6-speed is also OEM fitment in S15's and RS200 Altezzas. Apparently they don't like it if you get too hard on them, but if people use them in hotted up Altezzas behind a 200rwhp Beams 3GSE without any issues then an atmo 4G63 isn't going to pose any problems. You're looking for a J160. Not sure...

Oh, attempted to weld up the front half of the exhaust last weekend too. It's basically a set of 4-2-1 extractors with a 2" in/out 18" hotdog welded to the end, and a slip joint welded to the end of that to attach it to the rear half of the exhaust. Didn't *quite* work. It's held together ...

Re: help identifying my gearbox
200hp at the flywheel or the tyres?
Stronger than the Sigma Borg-Warner 5spd by a good long way, that's for sure.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they're good for ~150rwkw if you're gentle, but someone more knowledgeable than me will have to confirm that. So clutch dumps might be a bad idea.

Re: help identifying my gearbox
So, you have to push down on the shifter to select reverse? That's normal, both of my Jap 'boxes are like that.
Should be
1 3 5
2 4 R
If it's a Jap 5spd, which is what it looks like to me.

Wouldn't count on it. The 10-bolt and T-series were made by Mitsubishi and Toyota respectively, not sourced from a third party company like the Sigma/Corona/Corolla BW70.
Edit: But like I said before, you never know

No. Aus Corollas/Coronas have Borg-Warner diffs. Pretty sure it's the same diff as a Sigma actually. AUDM AE86's have an S-series, which is just as shit.Scorpma82 wrote:hmmmmmmm, so in theory, is it possible that you could get an open diff from an Aus model Corolla or Corona and put in an LSD centre into them????

Re: Toyota AE86 LSD
The diff in question is a T series, so T18, RA40 or JDM AE86. Two different sizes, for early AE86/T18/RA40 and late AE86. RA40/T18 have drum brakes.
The only real advantage they'd have is the ready availability of different ratios and LSD centres, they're about as strong as a Scorpion diff.

2WD Triton. The manual 'boxes are kinda rare and $$$$ though, and have shit ratios for a non-commercial vehicle anyway.
Bill Hincher makes/is going to make adaptor bellhousings to use a Toyota 5spd (W5x, R154) behind the 6G7x series engines, so there might be that option too.

Re: V6 into sigma
Same bellhousing pattern as 6G72? Use 2WD Triton autobox.
Heard a rumour that the Pajeros etc used a 4WD version of the Aisin-Warner 4spd found in Cressidas, so maybe an MX73 box with an auto V6 Pajero bellhousing? Don't quote me on that though, because as I said, it's a rumour.
