Re: Designing a GH sigma big brake kit?
Next question is what size wheels are you going to use????? The bigger and wider the disc the better. I'm limited to 15" wheels for my class and am using approx 290mm rotors. Most of the early model IPRA cars are using 15" wheels due to being limited to 50 series tyres. Most of the them fi...

Re: 2 door LA build-hillclimb car
You have to do a lot of work to make the rearend work properly with that type of HP in IPRA............. Distance between the rail and axle tube is the main drama, whilst trying bring the ride height down and keep some form of suspension travel. It looks like its a better car to restore than turn in...

What are using the car for???????? There should be plenty of options here. From memory early commodore discs and caliper bolt up? Don't quote me on this, I havent been down this route the conversion myself. We have used GTR disc's and calipers on the front of my tarmac rally car (LC coupe) and S3 RX...

Why not use an electric power steering pump off an astra, porsche, mazda 3 etc......... A lot of the old blokes in datsun rally cars are using suzuki steering columns where the electric motor is fitted to the column from the factory. Front doors are interchangeable between LA and LB sedans.
Rear doors are NOT interchangeable! As LB sedan has different shaped rear wheel wells to LA sedan. They will bolt on but will not close.

We never had any issue when we were running my LA at Clubcars/IPRA level 15 years ago. From memory........... I'll be doing one in the next 6 months, but haven't really looked at it in details. Other parts of the car to sort out first.
Quaife do quick rack conversions for ke70/ae86 and escort racks. They will probably be a good starting point at about 2.5 tltl.

So, using some contacts through contacts I got hold of a bloke that does engineering ad fabrication jobs for race cars. In his workshop he had an 80's Porsche 911 that looked like it was being preped for tarmac rallies, a Ford GT40 replica that was completely in bits and not one but TWO Nobles! Tha...

Re: Querie K-Mac strut tops
Galant and Sigma strut tops are the same as early Commodore.
One hole has to be drilled in the strut tower to convert Lancer to the Commodore strut top bolt pattern.
Saves a lot of f&^king around.

Yeah the red one is a dedicated rally car.......... Coltspeed built 2.6lt, twin 45's, small 5 speed, with a rav4 Lsd mod'd to go into the standard housing by award diffs.

Re: Galant suspension set-up
Strut tops are the same as sigma, which is the same as early commodore. Caltrac's are modern day tramp rods. They stop the S motion of the leaf spring between the front spring mount and diff spring mount when under load. Panhard rod will put a small side load on the spring pack, as it moves in an ar...

Re: Galant suspension set-up
I would suggest adding a panhard rod instead of a watts link in the rear. A watts link will bind up when used with leaf springs. Front end has been covered else where......... but I would suggest swapping the controls arms L to R and vice versa for a bit of extra castor ( you'll neeed to trim the gu...

I also have a set crossmembers for the 13B into LA conversion, But I doubt they'll fit the Galant as the suspension mounting points for the cross members are different.

Duratec's are a good thing........We run a 2.0l XR4 Fiesta and it makes about 100kw atw with light intake and exhaust mods. Re: 2 x 2 door 4g32 twin cams (2x2x2)
Good to here all is progressing well. The 24 spline axles should be fine for the small motor, but use the 26(S3 RX7) or 28 spline (13B RX4) for 2lt or above. 26 spline will also give you the correct stud pattern 4x114.3 and only came out in the series 3 RX7 ('84/'85). The only drama is at 1420mm wid...
