How you know you are getting old...

I do all the general maintenance and parts replacement on the Sigma myself. But for bigger jobs where I do have the means or the space to do the work I would call on one of my mates. Problem is everyone I know is retired or retiring. My best mate is a retired machanic and now does not like getting h...

Windscreen wiper blade "chattering" fix

This guy shows you how to stop the annoying windscreen wiper chattering. He is a little bit rugged in his application of this method, but you will get the gist.

What timing did you run? Also what was your AFR? I would love to run 15psi but my auto box will die haha i will be getting a manual but until then....... I ran my carby turbo at 15lb for a while. Makes a big difference but you have to get the timing and fuel mixture close to the mark.

Re: Fitted a .47 housing to my Garrett

Starts around 2000rpm. I tend to short shift around 3000/3500 so I do not know when it runs out of puff. Definitely goes harder, and has made the clutch slip a bigger problem.

Fitted a .47 housing to my Garrett

Had some turbo bits laying about, and time to kill , so I decided to fit the .47 exhaust housing to the T04 and see what the result was. And the result is (as you would expect) that it comes on boost a lot sooner than the .63 ..and makes it heaps better car around town and at country speed limits. B...

Re: Weird oil smoke problem.

If only Randolf :( I have taken the turbo inlet crossover off this morning and there is more oil in the inlet than there is in the sump. 8o| Also heaps of shaft play in the turbine shaft but it has not made contact with the housing. I have some bits and pieces for the turbo laying about somewhere so...

Re: Weird oil smoke problem.

Yes I have sort of resigned myself to the fact that it is the carbon seal. I will take the crossover off in the morning..only a 5 minute job. And I have noticed that the oil is very dirty, only changed it last week and already it looks black. In the grand scheme of things putting a new carbon seal i...

Weird oil smoke problem.

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/922/hOtM4x.jpg This has me stumped. My Sigma has been running great and trouble free for years. The timing chain was getting a bit rattly so I fitted a new pump, chains and sprockets. Rattle gone. Not long after ( I am putting this down to coincidence) I ...

Thanks for the reply. On one of the old forums there was a guy selling white faceplate kits for Scorpion instrument clusters and I thought that someone on this site may have been around back then and did the faceplate changover.

Removing Speedo needle.

I want to swap over my speedo so that I have a working trip meter. The replacement speedo has a different coloured face plate . To replace the faceplate, first I have to remove the speedo needle. Lots of different methods on youtube, but this one looks the easiest. Not sure if this is appropriate me...

Re: Wheel options for a GH scorpion

Back in the day I was going to chase up a set of Nissan TRX rims for my wagon. I thought they would look pretty good painted up. (These were on Gumtree recently) I initially fitted up a set of Starion mags, then went to pepperpots, then to turbo rims, then back to pepperpots. http://imagizer.imagesh...

I think basicly any 80,s RWD Jap with the same stud pattern. Sigma , Starion , Nissan RTX , Corolla , Mazda , I have even seen a Golf with pepperpots so presumably Golf rims will fit Scorpions.

I was told to wind it in reverse. So you are actually filling the pickup with oil. Then cranked it over for a couple of seconds and had oil pressure.

Prefered method for priming a new Astron oil pump.

I am open to suggestions. An old school mechanic friend recommends packing the pump with Vaseline. I remember when I got the engine back from the machine shop when I had recoed..that I spent 20 minutes winding it over with a ring spanner on the crank bolt, while squirting oil through the oil pressur...

Re: GC Red Rufus

maybe your electric fuel pump is putting out too much pressure. Shouldn't imaging you would need any more that 4lb pressure for a couple of carbies. A good indication is if it loads up with fuel at idle.

Re: Sigma Turbo Build

You can still use a Magna block but then you would have to chase up a Sigma GN motor to get the timing cover and sump and even the cam. ( GN is the only model that has the necessary parts to turn the Magna engine into a RWD engine) And you also will need a transmission and flywheel from a 2 litre. A...

I did not change over the brake master cylinder when I put GK discs on the back of the wagon. Every year I have to get the brakes tested on a platronic drive on brake tester..and the balance is perfect.
