Re: Introduction of my fleet

Escort panel van ftw :-)
Mine was a 1976 (Mk2)
It fell apart after a dunking in the South Alligator River :-(
...got me back to SA though...via WA...and then on to NSW
Good on you for keeping the dream alive :-)

Re: My Jap A72 Mitsubishi Lancer

Without knowing the provenance on this car, my suggestion would be "Don't change anything".
Once you find out what its history is, you'll be in abetter position to decide what to do.
Nice find btw :-)

Re: OddlyShaded's GA Galant

Wow :) Another fan of the 4g32 :)
Nice to see
They are great motors - IMHO not as well thought out as the 1500, but still a great piece of work.
Good on ya :)

Ooh - I would keep that - if it works - just for the Cool value :)
Even if it doesn't work, I'd fix it and keep it :)

Re: How to Correctly Spend $350

Top buy and Nice work :)
If you want to spend $ on the motor - think about having it balanced before anything else.
Im not up on 1800s but the 13,14,15 and 1600s love a good balance job :)

Or you should have one in the head-gasket set. Tip - Use silicone between the seal and head :)

Re: brake cailpers hitting tie rod end!

:) Works well for some.... I used GH Scorp struts and brakes (different to GH Sigma) At full extension and full lock I had binding. Lovells springs were not captured (ie they were loose at full extension) I really doubt that shorter inserts, while fixing the capture problem, would have helped the ca...

Re: brake cailpers hitting tie rod end!

As above is correct. You need to use the steering arms that came with the struts - and grind off the lumps so they don't bind on the control arms. Don't be surprised if you get negative camber :-( And loose springs if you decide to go for lower ones. Many threads here on that... For some people here...

Re: Carbys the are best for 4G32

^^^ Good advice above First decide what you want to achieve. And true - flow is the limiting factor in 4G32 heads - not to mention the plain cam journals. Dells and Webers are fine for top end and racing, but for street they are a thirsty pain (sound great though :)) SUs or copies are nice (I run a ...

Re: 4G32

Water with some green stuff in it and a dash of lubricant for the water pump.
Rust in the block is no prob if you run the thing regularly.
Corroded heads? Well, imho the porosity will kill them first (if not already).
Just change the stuff regularly and look out for emerging problems.
