Re: Maverick
Decided to go ahead and tear apart and clean the engine bay in preparation for the new motor. Bit of quality alkaline degreaser and a gerni can do wonders. Amazing such an old car can come up so clean with virtually no signs of rust etc. Found that the right hand side front has been in an accident a...

Re: Maverick
Shopping spree continues, replaced the 13x5.5 cheviots with some beefier 15x8 steelies to better accommodate the previous picture. Wouldnt get traction in those cheese cutters. Will be sitting on these till i can track down a set of 15x8 or 9 watanabes. Little flaring and some offset and 9s will fit...

If im not mistaken those wheels in the last pic are Watanabe's/Minilites/Rota RB/Rota RB-X etc. What i plan to put on the LC if i can find a decent set of genuine watanabes that wont cost me my first born child.

Re: Maverick
Purchased a turbo today. Some no name china brand TD05, .50 .63 rear, purely for mock up to keep momentum going. Tis brand new still but i wont be using it so ill just be selling it on to make my money back - but for 75 bucks i cant really argue. If im mocking this one up itll mean ill more than lik...
Re: Maverick
Speaking to a few people today ive been convinced im going to do a dizzy delete as im going stand alone because turbo anyway, so for the little outlay it will be worth it in the end. A friend can design and laser cut the trigger wheel on the cheap as well. Be interesting how it goes. Ill post up a s...

With the titan gasket from summit, are there any block/head preparation required to fit or am i fine just fitting it straight on the rebuilt motor i have? (will be using studs as well)

Re: Maverick
So i went ahead and took the head off and painted the block. Turned out better than expected, not only because i find out the block has been rebuilt (complete with cylinder tolerance stampings) but it looks better than i had hoped for a quick afternoon in the garage spray can job. Block as i took he...
Re: Maverick
Ha! Im hoping it will be a little pocket rocket in the end and worth all the blood sweat and tears. Next step is upper intake manifold and exhaust manifold off you, then get some head studs, VRS kit and timing chain kit, while i have it all apart etc might as well do it all. Then while my wallet is ...
Re: Maverick
Im trying not to have to modify the support or anything but if it has to be that way then ill definitely get one of those. Im hoping there is something out there that will fit nicely or something that can be made up fairly cheap. Ill keep this updated as i go though - cheers for the advice
Re: Maverick
Driving home from work today and the slight overheating problem i had turned into a faulty radiator cap and/or radiator and was on the side of the road for 20min waiting for it to cool down. Only got up to about 95ish deg on the temp gauge but its never budged past 80 and when checked at home can se...
Re: Maverick
Picked up a complete TP magna complete EFI conversion kit from work today, so i now have the head and everything that attaches to the head ready. Stealth has an upper manifold already modded and T04 exhaust manifold to suit to all i need is to buy a haltech and turbo, FMIC and a few little fiddly th...

Re: How to read the serial number on an Astron block.
Engine number of M572V06582
Gives me a 1987 unleaded manual block, which is correct so all good there. Im curious though whether its from a pajero or a sigma.
I have an additional non factory stamping of DR (then under that slightly smaller stamping) D100387 - Does this mean anything?

Re: Maverick
As the curious person i am i decided to find out what the engine number tells me. Starting with M572V ive established that its a 1987 manual unleaded engine. I was not completely sure on what the motor originally came out of as i was told it was out of a sigma, and when arrived to pick it up was tol...

Re: AE86 front suspension into LC
I have friends that can do all the fab work no problem so it wont be too costly to do that side of things, and im more wanting the rack and pinion setup, and the aftermarket support of all that comes with the ae86. In saying that it seems a popular conversion on the ae86 is an s13 front end, includi...

Take it as a compliment ;)
Not many people at all would bother or have the skills and materials to do it, i just love how something that seems so big to me is just another thing on the list for you.
