Re: Matt's Red GN
NO SHIT MAN, this is one of the most extensive modifications to a front end I think the site has seen to date. I went to uni to study industrial design so I could get a better grasp of CAD and CAM applications, engineering drawing, prototyping and construction - and ended up wasting a year learning ...

The mounting face in the back of that rim is really beat up too. I would be looking for a decent replacement rim, seriously.

Nice DIY work you're doing there d3v147. That is some bad ass welding on your custom turbo manifold! I gather you have solid experience with fabricating and TIG welding judging by the level of work you've put in so far. And I see you've installed rack and pinion steering in your Sig too - did you ta...

Maybe (MAYBE...) get some thick alu stock and have it welded in, then re-mill the stud holes. It would take some serious precision but I think this is in the too hard basket...

Re: hello i'm new and i wanna build my sigma(help)
The 4G32 is a 1.6 litre engine. If it has an alloy timing cover it will be either a 4G3* or a 4G5* engine (early Saturn or Astron)

Re: just an idea.
As long as it's a 4G6X from a front wheel drive it'll work. The RWD engines are wide block. If you look outside of a Mitsubishi built FWD, only early Hyundai stuff is compatible (engine on the left side of the engine bay - gearbox on the right) so your pick will be from anything manufactured mid 90'...

Re: just an idea.
Hi crappycolt, welcome to sigma-galant. Does anybody know if the asron 2.6 will go into an rd colt? In a word - no. The astron is a big lumbering beast and is huge compared to a sirius type engine. BUT you have got a heap of options if you are prepared to unleash your inner mad scientist on the humb...

Re: hello i'm new and i wanna build my sigma(help)
That is a GE Sigma built between 1977-80. If you can locate the engine number on the exhaust side of the engine block, the first few letters and numbers will identify what type of engine is in it (4G3*/4G5*) the asterisk will be the number that tells you what the engine capacity is. See if you can t...

Hi thesycio0, welcome to sigma-galant. Identifying your car shouldn't be too hard - there will be a manufacturers' plate on the firewall above/behind the engine with the model code stamped on it (unless it has been removed...) Once you figure out how to post up some pics of your car we can definitel...

Re: 4G52 ignition timing
Out of curiosity - does your 4G52 have points or electronic ignition? And there are all sorts of things that can affect top end rpm - a weak coil will struggle to build decent spark when it's pushed. A coil will start to break down after 10 - 15 years service. If it's still running the factory oil f...

Re: My Jap A72 Mitsubishi Lancer
The audio gear and the suspension upgrades would be sort of an indicator of when the car was modded. I don't think this was a drift car as it just isn't set up for it (the stock engine is underpowered for that deal too). It was more than likely a guy's home build for a rally/tarmac car. I doubt the ...

Re: My Jap A72 Mitsubishi Lancer
The 1.4 is not going to yield any decent improvements in performance without spending lots of cash. I'd look for something that is a more common engine that would be a straight forward install. Most of the earlier FWD engines are a no brainer to swap into a RWD car. Also you can look at something ou...

Looks like your work will be cut out for you in regards to sourcing parts for your build Paul (I would've been surprised if there was an old school JDM following where you live). Your Lancer is a real rolling time capsule - by the looks of it the original owner poured a lot into it during the early ...

Hmm, I dunno about the $150-200 ticket on that. The side vents look like they're Cosworth knock offs. I'd put in a lower offer and see if he bites... it's no good to anyone wanting a decent bonnet for their Starion with the hatchet work done to it

You'll need to drill out the spot welds on the headlight bucket mounts. Then there's the extraneous wiring.

They are in there pretty tight. Disconnect the aerial from the back of the head unit and give it a bit of slack, then pull at the base of the aerial a bit and wriggle it around. The cable goes straight into a 90 degree turn to fit into the 'A' pillar so it's a slow process to pull it through (pullin...

Re: Roller rockers on non-roller cam??
I would think using hydraulics with double valve springs would be somewhere between a waste of time and a bad move. The extra load would prevent the lifters from working at full capacity. I'm not 100% convinced double valve springs are a good idea in the first place as I have seen badly chewed rocke...

IMO I wouldn't go for the polished face mesh centres, it will be too blingy and detract from the stainless body trim. Plain silver centres will look too understated. I would be leaning towards either colour matched centres or gunmetal. Decisions, decisions...

Seeming you guys have touched on the subject of the VW styled tappets, it will be good to get info on using these.
