Oh and just so you guys know, Sakura Motorsports from Puerto Rico are still the world record holders for the quickest and fastest 4G54/G54B in the world (7.48 @ 176mph). Here is a photo of their head they use (looks very similar): http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-y4lAw7tJ83c/TdcJnylR_PI/AAAAAAAAAL0/Vw4BG7S...

Re: Astron billet cylinder head
Awesome work again from Paul! Looks like from the photos that these heads are to suit Astron II intake manifolds only but drilling new holes for older Astron intakes shouldn't be too hard. I was thinking of fitting a 6G72 or 4G64 turbo to my Sigma but now I might just stick with the Astron! I'll be ...

Are you sure early Commodore and Sigma strut tops/mounts are the same? They do look close, but I couldn't find any where that can verify this. Can anyone confirm please? Ok just to clarify and help others who are after this same part, here are a couple of part numbers from overseas. These are to fit the Mitsubishi Galant, Colt Galant, Galant Sigma, Chrysler/Mitsubishi Sigma family and perhaps even old Lancers too! They are for the GA/B/C/D/E/H models. Might fit othe...

Re: Oil in intake manifold
I had a similar problem with my reconditioned Astron II. But to add to my sorrow, there was mainly coolant in the intake and a little bit of oil. So I thought it was a cracked intake manifold, so I swapped it with a better ported one I had spare and problem still there. So I decided to remove the he...

Re: Motor Swaps - Not the usual ones
Buy a Triton 2WD donor car and fit all the gear (it all just bolts in!). You have either a choice of the 4G64 2.4 SOCH 16V or the 6G72 3.0 V6.

Re: Suspension Geometry and lowering
I've been playing with the suspension on Sigmas for years to suit street cars. I currently have the best combo on my golden GE sedan. You want to lower the car until the front lower control arms are straight with the crossmember (King low springs achieve this) and fit a thick Whiteline front anti-ro...

Re: V6 Scorpion
Sadly it's true, I would not be able to register my car with a carby-fed 6G72... So I'm now thinking of going the MPFi route but making a modified upper intake manifold that looks like a 4 barrel carby so I can then fit a chrome old-school air filter. I might even use one of these Edelbrock four bar...

Re: Carby'd mitsi V6?
I have extensively researched this possibility. The Mitsubishi 6G7 series engines fit the Sigma quite easily and you can pick up a donor 2WD manual (or auto if you want) Triton V6 dornor, but they are a bit rare. The Sprint cars did use a 6G72 V6 in South Australia mostly, with a custom intake manif...

Re: Astron questions
I'm still researching this and checking some threads but so far nothing. The reason I want to fit an Astron 1 head to my GN Sigma Astron II block is because my Astron II head is stuffed (bad casting crack) and I have a good condition ported and polished Astron 1 head and Crow Cams mild camshaft spar...

Does anyone know what compression we would get by fitting a stock Astron II out of a GN Sigma and early Magna (8.8:1 with stock flat top pistons) with an Astron 1 2.6 head (made 8.2:1 with stock dished pistons)?

My Astron II 2.6 now has a cracked head and to get the car going again I was thinking of fitting a slightly worked Astron I 2.6 head I have in the garage. Now I know it will bolt up to the later model Astron II block, but what would be the compression? The Astron 1 2.6 has dished pistons and a compr...

You know the seal has one side with a flat face and one side with a groove. Which side faces the inside of the head and which faces the firewall/outside?

Or try a paste from Permatex called Liquid-Metal (or something like that). Supercheap sells it, it's cheap and worked great on mine. Fixes leaking cracked intake manifolds too.

It's not a straight bolt in but only requires an adapter to mount it onto a stock manifold (easy to do) - http://s1089.photobucket.com/albums/i351/geezer1011/coupe/coupe044.jpg It however will require sorting out of fuel and vacuum lines, accelerator cable mounting and deletion of a coolant circula...

Re: sigma turbo 32/36 vs 34adm
Only the 38 Weber off a V6 Ford Capri had the two butterflies that open together. That had two 38mm venturies, versus two 34mm on the 34ADM and one 23mm and one 36mm on the 32/36 Weber.

Re: 32/36 or 34ADM???
Why do people think a 34ADM is bigger than a 32/36? They are the same total size of 34+2=68 and 32+36=68! If you jet them the same, the 32/36 should have better fuel economy with the primary port of 32 (versus the 34) but the same total. Or am I wrong?

Re: EF/XF weber Carby
The XE/XF Falcon carbies ARE genuine Italian-made Webers. I've seen on many online sources that these Webers are happy to run anywhere between 3 and 4psi of fuel pressure. Stock fuel pressure on standard Astron Mikuni carbies is around 6psi according to my factory service manual.
