Re: Matt's Red GN

Most recently I discovered i was losing coolant. I thought it may have been head gasket so I pulled the plugs and checked with a little camera. Couldn't see any water. I then pressurized the radiator - probably too much as the cap bulged up. It then cracked the neck off a bit. It did look like it w...

Re: 4g54 Turbo headgasket woes.

It's blowing head gaskets for a reason. First things first, WHERE is the head gasket blowing out, and is it in the same spot each time? The usual things that will cause a gasket to blow. 1. Block or head aren't flat. 2. Corrosion in the head or block, around the water holes. 3. Re-using old head bol...

Do the headlights work and do the lights on the dash come on when the ignition is turned on?
If yes, it could be the starter relay or solenoid.

Just be careful, the US Starions have 2 different sizes of clutches and pressure plates for their wide block 4G54's. I found out the hard way after purchasing 2 of them. As for the gearbox, how much torque and where is it in the RPM range? The Starion or Triton gearbox will be much stronger than eit...

Re: scorpion diff into gh can it be done

You will need: 1. the Scorpion handbrake cables 2. the Scorpion diff including all the arms. 3. the Scorpion tailshaft. There are 3 issues. 1. the Diff needs to be out of a GE or GH Scorpion. 2. the tailshft flange (that connects the tailshaft to the diff) may be different. 3. the tailshaft yoke (th...

Just a light unfortunately!
The light comes on when the pressure drops below 5psi.
At that pressure, the engine is doing itself damage, no matter what rpm.

I use a 20psi switch just to be sure.

Usually low oil can also cause that problem.

Changing a timing chain isn't a big deal, as long as both chains use joining links.

Looking good. All in one coil driver ICs are lovely. As they switch the negative to the coil i just earthed that leg directly to the mounting plate. All I need is a logic level pulse from the ECU into the resistors and the coils work perfectly (Well one was a dud but I had a spare) If you need to re...

Another 2 things to check,
1.) Cam lobes and rocker slippers. Make sure they aren't wearing down and/or badly scored.
2.) The top of the valves aren't mushrooming or wearing a groove in them.

Re: Thermostat relocation

The main problem, if you don't relocate the thermostat housing to the front, is the possibility of getting an air pocket in the head for the first 2 cylinders. Because the engine slopes back, in a RWD setup, the rear water port is lower than the front water port. If you have some type of a water ble...

I take it you have a workshop manual for both he GH Wagon and the TR/TS Magna. They makes life a lot easier. Also, is the Magna ECU from a manual or auto? The auto has an "inhibit" pin so you can only start it when the transmission is in park or neutral, The manual has it as well but it is...

Hi Colin034,

What suburb are you in?

What ECU are you using?

Have helped a mate wire up a 2.6L, astron powered LC Lancer. He was using a cut and shut TR magna manifold and the Magna ECU/Wiring loom.

Wasn't all that difficult, took us less than 1 day to do.

For a 2.0L - 3.0L engine, these GARRETT VNT-25, Variable Geometry Turbos are very responsive.
At less than $600 delivered, they are also a good buy.

Hi Mick. To better gauge what parts and work you will need, it's worth asking yourself the following questions (and posting the answers here :D ). What HP,Torque, RPM and longevity you are you wanting to achieve from the engine, will better determine what parts you need. Do you want it as a daily/dy...

NO, a Magna engine won't swap directly into a Triton. Tritons are wide block and all magnas are narrow block (gearbox/bell-housing), along with the sump and front timing cover being a different size as well. The water pump for rear wheel drives are on the front timing cover, but on the magna, it is ...
