Forums upgrade and strange new look

Because of required upgrades, the theme for the forums broke as a result. It'll look strange for a while till that is fixed.

Have fun!

Re: Cottees' 1980 Chrysler Celeste Lancer LC GT A73M Resto

Did a little work on the Lancer today. Pretty much stripped it back to how it was when I got it. I also pulled out the window which I didn't do the first time. The window was too easy to remove, so that is probably where some of the water was getting in too. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/...

Re: Cottees' 1980 Chrysler Celeste Lancer LC GT A73M Resto

I've learnt the hard way that it's a bad idea to leave a project car sit in the open. After sitting out front of my place for a while, then major storms lately. Was prepping the car to move her under cover, and discovered a pool. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/Cottees/Lancer/B3F714D2-35B1-...

Re: Cottees' 1980 Chrysler Celeste Lancer LC GT A73M Resto

Hi, just a question. Ive just gotten a 1980 Celeste 1600 ST and I noticed earlier you had a workshop manual for it you considered scanning. Did you ever det around to that and would that be possible to get? Ive had no luck finding 1. btw I rather like the 2tone color on yours. Brgds Morten PM me wi...

Re: Cottees' 1987 Sigma GN GSR Super Edition

Got the O2 sensor installed and wired up. It is running off cylinders 1 and 4. The Magna stock exhaust I think has the O2 sensor on cylinders 2 and 3. Either way, it should work ok. I was thinking of installing it when the pipes merged into a single pipe, but it would not fit under the car properly....

The metal isn't thick enough to tap, but I have welded in one of these O2 Bungs.

Re: Cottees' 1987 Sigma GN GSR Super Edition

After driving for a while, the water pump gasket was holding up, but there was another leak in the system, and also a leak in the heater core. The leaks weren't as bad as the water pump, but because of the extra heat, it made it worse. I ended up going through the system and making sure everything w...

I think I have a small coolant leak... ...That turned into a big coolant leak. Looks awesome. Did an image search on it to find more info, and Google thinks it's a 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS.

Re: Cottees' TR/TS EFI conversion guide WIP

It is a nightmare. Soon many wires. But but when the loom is untaped, it makes more sense when you place it in the engine bay and connect everything up. Once I did that, I cable tied the wires together so it was a little neater, then taped it. Much more work then if you extend the loom. But it is wo...

Re: Cottees' TR/TS EFI conversion guide WIP

Or is it m9 that I have?.. The M9 (don't think the M8 is the same) has a kidney bean shape combustion chamber. The ones prior have a hemi shape. If you have a M9 head, that would explain the pinging since the compression would be higher than normal. You'd have to change to an earlier head with a he...

Re: Cottees' 1987 Sigma GN GSR Super Edition

I am running a Magna M4 head from a TN-TP, and the roller rockers and cam from a TR-TS. I haven't had any cooling issues, even with it being 40C+ lately. I think I have a small coolant leak, and it would run hot when the coolant level dropped a bit.

Re: Cottees' 1987 Sigma GN GSR Super Edition

Been a while since I have posted an update, so have done a couple things since the last post. After driving the Sigma for the last month, there is a noticeable difference in power. I have temporarily changed back to stockies with 185s. Earlier when taking off from stand still, it would struggle a li...

Re: Cottees' 1987 Sigma GN GSR Super Edition

The GN is now running, so I am unhappy with things with it and have to meddle again. I decided to change around the fuse box, as well as tidy up the wiring. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt288/Cottees/Sigma/IMG_7286_zps0txette6.jpg Instead of using blade connectors, I have soldered wires direct...

Re: Cottees' 1987 Sigma GN GSR Super Edition

This makes me glad I just run simple double carbs... Carbs are black magic! Then again, I do run a Dell'Orto on my LC. I was unhappy with how the TPS part of the loom was being run, so I extended it to run it neatly. If I was to do the loom again, I'd run the TPS wiring with the rest of the loom. I...

Re: Cottees' 1987 Sigma GN GSR Super Edition

I haven't been around much, and haven't had the time to do any work on the GN, but finally got some stuff done. Finalising the new setup and seem to be working ok. I have also added a air bleeder valve to the side of the idle air controller to bleed out any air from the top of the system. In the vid...

Re: 2.6 sigma and a sc14 supercharger

The SC12 was used on a 1.6L, and the SC14 was used on a 2.0L, then later in the Toyota Pravia on it's 2.4L. So it isn't a stretch to have it working on a 2.6L. There is also kits that have been made up to put a SC14 onto the 3.8L Buick engine in the Commodores. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/at...

The son of the guy I bought my LB off asked me if my LC was a 200SX. I said no. After actually looking up to see what a 200SX looks like, I feel quite insulted. http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/1978-Datsun-200SX-Silvia-S10-07-640x480.jpg http://japanesenostalgicca...

Re: Cottees' TR/TS EFI conversion guide WIP

For a while, I just adjusted it to a 'that sounds right' position. How it is setup at the moment is the standard way a Magna is adjusted. There is a connector on the loom that I think you earth, and that stops the ECU from adjusting the dizzy. Then with a timing light, it was set to 5 degrees before...

Re: Cottees' TR/TS EFI conversion guide WIP

I don't think mine had a ballast resistor. The Magna doesn't have one, so it should be ok to remove it.
