Re: Marty's GA Build
The issue with the GAs is that their g/box cross member bolts inboard of the chassis rails. The GBs bolt up through the rails. So if you can find a GB cross member, you can drill through the rails, add crush tubes and bolt up :) Welding to rails is forbidden where I'm from, so you cant just extend t...

Re: Marty's GA Build
This is commendable work.
Great to see another GA being loved
Wish I had your welding abilities
How are you going with relocating the gearbox cross-mount?
Have you had to shift it rearward?
Look forward to updates

YAY Another GA
Welcome to the site
You can indeed put GH Sigma struts in your GA, but, without further info on other modifications, I wouldn't say you NEED them.
Being a 1300 - do you have drums up front?
Cheers

Re: Scorpion GH
On the fuel supply side of things, has your tank been sitting for a while? If so, take it out and get it flushed properly.
Replace your fuel lines. Check your carb for crud in the bowl and jets.

Re: Newbie twin carb question
Always happy to see another 4G32 build
2 things to know (imho):
Balance it
Don't go too strong on the valve springs - these heads are getting rare.
Keep us in the loop

Re: Newbie twin carb question
Agreed - 40DCOE for rallying
But tuning will cost $$
Get your engine sorted first, then add carb(s)
T.
There's also the option of twin Aisan HF40Ds (but hard to find parts) or equivalent SU

Re: Tuning twin solex downs
I agree with above - if you want the mixture correct you need to measure it.
But if all you want to do is Balance the 2 carbs, then ballancing by ear is, imho, a great way to do it.
At least, it works best for me.
But you need to know what you are listening to/for.

Fantastic handling
Very hard on engine and gear-box mounts
Surprised many an MG
Destroyed by a Kombi that rear-ended it.

If its of any help - the Super-Cheap plastic joiners and bends can be adapted to almost anything.
The slight bend coming from the heater tap through the firewall is tricky though :-b

Re: Oil Caps & Radiator Caps
4G32 Oil filler cap rattles - any blow-by will wear out your filler cap because its always moving in its hole. The hole wears too :( Get a thin piece of metal, 1/2 to 1" wide, bend it into a "z" shape (or 2 right-angle bends), drill a hole in one end, put the hole over the front air-b...
