Re: V6 Scorpion
No dirtygalant decided to go travelling and ended up in London UK. I sold off all my cars (including a second Scorpion turbo) apart from this Eterna, and my beloved E39A Galant VR-4 Evolution. I ended up pulling the 6G72 back out and putting a DASH 3x2 4G63 donated from a JDM Starion GSR-V parts car...

Re: 6G74 Into sigma??
dragging this thread up again, if anyone is wondering about a 2WD auto to go behind the V6, you can use a Toyota A340 series as the Pajero V6 auto uses the same Aisan box which is more or less the same as the A340 and shares the same pattern to bolt a bellhousing to. So get a Pajero V6 auto bellhous...

Re: my mmc galant
Yep what you have there is the 5th Generation Galant, chassis prefix would be E15A for the 2.0L 4-cyl model. The Sigma symbol just means that it's a sedan. Yours is a hard top so has a different front and rear end as well as pillarless windows. The 200hp model is the DASH-Turbo 3x2V G63B engine. The...

Re: 6G74 Into sigma??
I got the bellhousing back in 2001 from a wreckers so I assume its a mid 90s Paj. I dont think it really matters whether its a 3.0/3.5/SOHC/24vSOHC or DOHC as Im pretty sure the block bolt pattern is the same. I did have to make a closing plate up to go between the block and the bellhousing and cut...

Re: 6G74 Into sigma??
What bellhousing is that? And that looks to be a W50 gearbox yeah? Why not use a lighter and stronger W55 box? *edit* never mind I just read the post above the picture haha.. what flywheel/clutch combo are you running then? Also which bell housing was that from, a V5MT1 Pajero (3.0 SOHC) or a V5M33 ...

Re: V6 Scorpion
Hi thanks for the kind words. Yep know about the GEs, they're the 3rd gen Galant while mine is the 4th gen. had a look at your blog, looks cool. Ahh.. the whole Galant/Eterna/Sigma thing seems to confuse a few people. For the Japanese market, the E (symbol for Sigma) designated the sedan and wagon m...

Re: 4G63T VR4 to RWD what box?
VR-4 is narrowblock engine. It should bolt to your existing gearbox. Measure the bottom two dowel pin spacing on the bellhousing - 310mm is narrowblock and 330mm is wideblock.

Re: 4G63 T in a sigma wagon
Nice, that motor is from a Galant VR-4 'Evolution' which has 510cc injectors, TD05H big 16G, larger intercooler and piping, 'ECI-MULTI' writing on the manifold etc from factory. They have 3.909 ratio like Evo1-3 along with vents on the bonnet and extra vents below the main grille on the bumper. The...

Re: 6G74 Into sigma??
I'm currently in talks with a guy in the US who makes custom bellhouses regarding a 6G7x to W58 or R154 bellhousing being made, but he is a bit back-logged and it could be months before he even starts. I have yet to be quoted a price to have it done too, and I would imagine the price would get less ...

Re: Negative camber for better handling
am running 205/50 R16s for road rubber and 205/55 R16s slicks for track days - can't say I've noticed a difference in tyre wear. Camber by itself isn't the sole cause of un-even tyre wear, it's usually when it's combined with excess toe-in or toe-out that the camber wear is accelerated. I'm running ...

Re: 4G63 and 4G93
I had replied to this but seems my posts got lost with the forum being down. Anyway the 4G63 and 4G93 are two completely different engines. The 4G93 is a much newer design with thinner lightweight rods (which love to snap and puncture the block when the engine is pushed excessively), a cam belt driv...

Re: Negative camber for better handling
I did the same trick - I think it's approx 2 degrees difference. I was running about +0.5-1 degrees camber up front in stock standard form and after lowering and strut tops switched around I ended up with about -2.2-2.5 on the front.

Re: The rest of my cars
yep it's a V6 - the VZ series is a flop though, most of them have block corrosion problems which leads to the head gasket failing on the rear bank, worse thing is most people overlook the block corrosion and replace the head gaskets etc only to find it still has the blown head gasket symptoms. The a...

Re: 6G74 Into sigma??
at least if you break a W58 you can find another for $500 odd, and there are still rebuild parts available as well as short shifter kits etc etc. They aren't that much larger than a Starion box so I don't think there would be a big issue fitting them into Starions or Sigmas/Scorpions etc

Re: 6G74 Into sigma??
and what is 'they'? you meaning any gearbox which attaches to the 6G7x V6? Problem is most 6G7x's are transverse, so that rules out most of the gearboxes - the rest are either Pajero V5MT1 or V5M31 4WD gearboxes which have a giant transfer case hanging off the back, or the MK onwards Triton 2WD V6 R...

Re: What RWD gearbox will bolt up to a 6A12, 2L v6 DOHC engine?
Why do you say that? I find the stock Mitsubishi water pump setups are more than sufficient. You still have to somehow route the coolant from the back of the cylinder heads forward to the thermostat housing and radiator etc - on Pajero V6s all that is built into the water pump housing.

Re: 6G74 Into sigma??
no the 6G7x series V6 has its own unique bellhousing and is not shared with any other Mitsubishi series motors unfortunately. The only gearboxes to fit up are ones originally from 6G7x V6s.

Re: IRS for Sigma GJ-GN
Well yes the Sigma and Starion are going to be very similar mechanically, my Eterna is the two door coupe version of the four door 80-84 A16#A series Galant/Eterna-Sigma, and then the Starion was further developed from the two door Galant/Eterna-Lambda. The main difference in the front end between t...

from inside the boot it looks almost the same as inside of a Starion hatch, except notch-back body style instead of hatch of the Starion. Re: IRS for Sigma GJ-GN
another thing is, you'ld have to totally change the bottom end of those coilovers so they support the hub - the IRS setup relies on the strut to as a major component of the suspension, it handles most of the load and controls the rate of camber etc - it's just like the macpherson strut at the front ...
