Magna water pump on GN engine.
I have a 2.0 4g52 from a SIgma GN. It's a transitional block and uses the newer narrower timing covers and sumps from the Astron II engines. It's really difficult to find Sigma GNs so I was thinking of using a magna timing cover and sump, but I would have to use the magna waterpump. Does anyone know...

Re: I DESPERATELY NEED HELP! (4g52 rebuild)
Just to elaborate on the sump and timing case width issue.. All of the sumps and timing covers fitted to Sigma 4g52/4g54 are the same size EXCEPT for the Sigma GN 2.6 Astron 2, which is around 30mm narrower across it's width. Not just the GN 2.6, but the GN 2.0, as we've just established. I have a ...

Re: I DESPERATELY NEED HELP! (4g52 rebuild)
Amazingly, I just managed to discover this myself 10 minutes ago after more research. After talking with my friend with a wideblock, I realized indeed, wide and narrow blocks do not affect the sump at all. I assumed it did since my sump wouldn't fit. SO, I DO have a GN block. I hope there aren't man...

I DESPERATELY NEED HELP! (4g52 rebuild)
I am so utterly confused. I bought a reconditioned 4g52 block a while back, just the block with pistons, rods and shaft. I have come to the rude awakening that the parts I salvaged from another 4g52 from a GE or GH 79 Scorpion (auto) do not fit! The sump is about an inch too wide, subsequently, timi...

Do the GK alternators fit right onto the GH? I assumed they would but I wanted to be sure before buying online.

4G52 Viscous Fan -Needed?
Is it okay to remove the viscous fan from the engine? A mate of mine seemed to reckon it provided some balancing but I'm skeptical about that.

Re: Sigma Scorpion GE Rotor Questions
Ah, by rotor hat I mean't wheel hub. I guess technically rotor hat is the incorrect term for this type of wheel assembly. Still learning terminology. I knew it had bolts, I'd already removed the bolts yesterday. The issue was they were stuck together bloody good even without those bolts. In the end ...

Sigma Scorpion GE Rotor Questions
I am thoroughly cleaning up my rotors before I pop them into my 77 LB, so I am going to remove the rotor hat from the rotor so I can easily clean and paint them. The hats don't really wanna come off though, any suggestions on how to do that without destroying them? Secondly, the hats would be made o...

Port Matching 4g52
So I've decided to stick with the stock astron I 4g52 head and port it out. I've been reading about port matching and I'm curious what is the best way to do that. I've been looking at webers from recarb.com.au. They do a single 45 dcoe carby and manifold for the 4g52, but if I port it out, that mean...

4g52 + 4g54 II head
I've read that putting on 4g54 heads onto the 4g52 can change the compression. Does anyone have personal experience with applying a head from a 4g54 II to a 4g52? I'm still trying to find a donor magna atm. Secondly, are the ports and values on the 4g54 heads bigger than the 4g52? I was under the im...

Selling Refurbed 4g52
This engine was meant to go into my Lancer but I later decided to keep my 4g32, so I don't need it anymore. The block includes its internals including brand new custom forged pistons as well as an oil sump, timing cover. A kit was installed to remove the balance shaft for extra torque. Does not incl...

Actually I am also curious about that. I am looking into extractors atm. I will be going to Fat Pipes at Kallangur to have them done in ...

Feels tighter than before. Yeah that's what one mate said to me. Do you reckon Bob Jane would have tigthened the steering box? Changed the oil hey? I'll look into that after they loosen the steering then. Thanks mate!

I recently got my tie rods, ball joints, idler arm and control arm bushing replaced followed by an alignment yesterday. I didn't replace the pitman because it was proper stuck in there, but that's another story. I have a 1977 Lancer Coupe btw and after that work was done to it, when I turn for corne...

4G52 Timing Belt Cover
I need a timing belt housing cover for my 4G52. I understand that cars from the 80s and 90s (magna?) also used 4G52s, would parts like these be interchangable to the old 4G52 for a Scorpion?

Re: Carby size for 4g52
Well it is also getting titanium valve springs, extractors, a mild cam and forged pistons. I want it to move. I'm concerned that 45s will be counterproductive for performance though. I don't know a lot about cfm and how it relates to appropriate carby size.

Carby size for 4g52
I was originally intending on getting twin 45dcoe carbies for the 4g52 but several people say it might be too much for the 2l engine. Should I go smaller? Any guidance on this matter would be appreciated.

Re: 4G52 in '77 Lancer
Well I have a 5 speed from a 1979 Lancer so if that one fits on the 4G52 that would be awesome. So maybe I'll use that one, especially since I have already cut the carpet for the shifter. So you're saying the box from the 1979 Lancer will fit on the 4G52 and if I do that, I can bring the Lancer's ta...

I'm planning on putting my mate's 4G52 into my Lancer. Got a few questions; Does the 4G52's 5speed fit in the Lancer? Will the mount points need any customization? Will I need to customize the tailshaft? Also, the 4G52 is currently in pieces due to new pistons and balance shaft removal and I've neve...

I already opted to swap the tank. I'm currently sitting here with the tank of the 79 in my lap. I've stopped because I found a strange object rattling around inside.. No need, the LC is a donor car, I can use its fuel return line. Except modifying the fuel tank will be a pain.

1977 No Fuel Return Solution
I own an LC (1979) and an LB (1977) Chrysler Lancers. I've just hooked up the carby from the LC into the older LB and discovered that the LB doesn't seem to have a fuel return line, which is requires. What are my options? Ideally I don't want to install a new line. I've heard of people using splitte...
