If it helps, on another mitsi when i did a manual conversion, just bridged the plug at the box end of it to trick it into thinking it was in neutral and never had a problem. Would just do it at the ECU end in your case but might be an easy solution if itll work

Im thinking possibly a small cut and shut on the shifter hole in the tunnel? if the boxes are physically longer/shorter like a lancer then youll need to make way for the shifter poking through.

It depends where you go and who you get. Technically yes, you need a mod plate for an engine conversion of any kind, however most inspectors wont notice or know the difference.

Im sure most aftermarket high mount manifolds will bring the turbo up well above the steering box. not sure if it would then foul the bonnet as they are obviously designed for east/west at the front of the bay but thats the first port of call i would go to for a bolt on easy solution.

Yes magnas are FWD/AWD so their pump is seperate at the back of the head which would be in the middle of the engine bay for them where space isnt an issue. For a RWD application you cant use a magna pump pretty sure. Have you looked into using an electric water pump instead?
