Recommendations for panel beaters in Sydney.

I'm trying to find a panel beater preferably in Western Sydney to start the bodywork on my hardtop. Panel beaters are a dime a dozen out here but I'm hoping to find someone experienced in older cars and older methods. It seems most smash repairs these days just bolt on new panels, paint and send it ...

Re: Our 1975 GC Hardtop (pic heavy and epic read!)

Holy balls you guys!! I worked on the car today!! Its only taken me two years but work has begun. http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k589/tj-xr5t/Mobile%20Uploads/20141124_124130.jpg I spent most of the time trying to figure out why it wont start. I still started and drove after the accident but I ...

Re: Our 1975 GC Hardtop (pic heavy and epic read!)

So I'm hearing rumblings that in a few weeks there'll be a garage in Marayong that it's owners won't be using for a year and a bit and that there'll be a Galant shaped empty space under my carport

Re: 4G63 Front thermostat relocation with water gallery mod.

I'm a little late to the party here. I didn't do it, but I feel that I probably should have. That said I never had any temperature issues right up until a P plater in a Toyota Echo forcibly relocated the radiator into the water pump :( the car was only street driven, not tracked. Racing may be an is...

Re: Wreckers with Galants in NSW??

Only ones that I know of with galants are Northern auto wreckers in Londonderry and that weird hermit bloke in Riverstone. The yeti in Riverstone has two or three with plenty of bits but the one at northern auto is pretty barren.

Re: dash cable clip GC galant

If it's any help finding a replacement the cables out of early sigmas (GE?) will fit but they're a little bit longer so you'll need to cable tie up the slack to your gearbox cross member. Just make sure that its all long and loose curves so you don't bind up the cable.

Re: Gd front windscreen rubber

What Jason said. The coupe is a little taller (the windscreen is raked back further, if that makes any sense) and they're very difficult to source. I scored one a few years ago in a group buy out of Japan and have stashed it (no it is definitely not for sale) I think you can still get sedan rubbers ...

I know it does, I tried one but the factory AFM is a huge thing that sits inside a conical filter, not a small inline type that everyone else uses.
I'll have to get creative.

Was there any particular reason you chose the Commodore rack? I reckon an mx5 would be pretty pretty close size wise plus they're a relatively quick feeling rack, that or an early corolla of some sort.

Next time I've got the bosses MX5 up on the ramps I'll run around it with the measuring tape.

Well now I'm just jealous

If you've got that much clearance you wont have a problem. You could barely slip a sheet of paper betweeny cas and the firewall and it never caused a problem. It never rubbed and there was enough clearance to set timing.

Ok, according to a PM I sent to somebody back in 2011 it was a Mackay brand engine mount and the part number was "TEM0308A"

I've got no Idea if they're still in production but it's worth a shot.

I managed to pick one up new through bursons a few years back. They're book didn't explicitly say what was for a 4 speed or 5 speed but it did list the difference in the distance between the two bolt holes (the bigger of the two being for a 5-speed if you didn't already know) Give them a try. In the...

SOHC '63s were used in express vans and some triton utes so there'll be useful bits in those for your conversion. I was also under the impression that if you used the front water outlet, you also needed to restrict the front water port holes in the head, to allow for correct water flow. Re: plumbing 4g63 DOHC heater hoses in a rwd

^ I used one of these too. I swiped it out of an Express Van and it went in without too much fuss. My engine swap was in a Galant so the CAS (assuming you're still running one) got in the way of the hole in the firewall for the heater hoses. Thankfully (sort of) my car had A/C in a prior life so it ...

Man this thing has a lot of potential. That's real patina too.

As for police attention, as long as there's no dramatic rust and no other defects (like lights not working or body work hanging off) there's nothing that makes it un-roadworthy.

Any mechanical plans for it?

Hey guys Datsun Day has come around again and its looking to be a big one this year http://www.datsunday.com/pics/DatsunDay2013Flyer_lowres.jpg Yes, it is a Datsun event but, as we experienced during our last cruise out to Wiseman's Ferry, they're very welcoming of anything old and Japanese, but the...
