Re: 4G32 Rocker gear advice?

Next time you change your oil (or if the nose comes back) just get some 25-60 mineral oil and some nulon or oil additive that clings to things in the engine. New oils aren't designed for old engines, they are generally too thin and create the noises you are talking about. When your engine was new (l...

Re: 4G32 Rocker gear advice?

What oil are you using? If your engine is fairly old and worn, if you try and use light weight modern synthetic oils (like 5-20) old engines will rattle.... try thicker mineral oil like 20-50 or thicker and try adding thickening/clinging additive like motor honey, moreys or nulon to wring the last l...

Re: Am I the only one...

The only thing that could be perceived as 'wrong' with the old style draw thru turbo, is that the turbo is pressurising a perfect concoction of air and fuel, which gets more flammable/volatile as the pressure builds, this is why a waste gate that dumps into the exhaust beyond the turbo (down stream)...

Re: 520x420x52 radiator im after !

Look on ebay? You can get aluminium radiators for less than the cost of a re-core. Just type in 'gallant aluminium radiator' or just 'aluminium radiator' look at where your outlet and inlet are, click on any radiator that you like the look of and look in 'users other items' and see if they list your...

Re: Ebay turbochargers?

Thanks for your concern, however, the turbo wont be working hard and the machine can fly perfectly well with the turbo not boosting if it were to seize.... other than that, gyros glide perfectly well and only need a cricket pitch sized spot to land. The IHI turbo on it should be fine, but nothing wr...

Re: Picked up a Pajero

Air lockers mate.... leave the diff open and fit air lockers both ends... will handle better on road and go anywhere off road,,,, serious wheeling with an lsd aint all that great and they can be pigs on the road if the diff is tight enough to do any good off road (H)

Re: Picked up a Pajero

Yeah, I just mentioned the trans coz people usually forget about servicing them and fry them... especially if you do any decent wheeling a cooler is good....

Geez... you must be strong! I would have needed a jack :D Nah, that looks quite good.... make sure you service the trans and run a cooler..... How many Kms? (or should I say miles?) Doesn't look like it has any rust? I like the sky light... sunroof (moon roof) whatever you call them over there (H) (...

Re: Ebay turbochargers?

I am thinking along the lines of these. I am aware if you buy a cheap turbo, you get what you pay for.... however, sometimes there is some cheap stuff that actually works.... I am asking if in amongst the rubbish, there is any that people have tried and found to be amazingly good..... or some that r...

Re: Ebay turbochargers?

I started in GA in Grummans, Cessnas and Cherokee... but gave that up after I discovered gyros. Because I have PPL was able to fly into airstrips and 500'-5000' before asra got that ability for all gyros.

Re: Ebay turbochargers?

So, it is 1800 (pushrod) boxer.... the turbo running low boost is more for maintaining Hp at higher altitude than boosting performance to any great extent.... I will probably try a chinese Cheepie, I just would like to find out if any of the rubbisy brands are extra rubbishy and to be avoided..... o...

Re: Ebay turbochargers?

Hi, it is for an EA81 sooby on a gyrocopter.... so it is constantly running at 75%+ throttle, as opposed to hard acceleration followed by idling at the lights and constant throttle changes as in vehicles. Once flying the throttle is basically left at a setting unless climbing or descending.... so fa...

Ebay turbochargers?

Been looking on ebay, lots of cheap new chinese turbos on there, just wondering if they are any good, or if they are just rubbish? Has anyone had any success with them, or do they suck rather than blow? :ban: I notice some expensive ones say ball bearing, so I guess the cheaper ones are just bushes ...

Re: Car only runs when key is turned half way

Yeah, I had a dodgy ignition that when cranking, the ignition wire wasn't hot, until you stopped cranking..... pain in the butt. Check the power outputs on the ignition switch, or try another if you can get hold of one

Re: number stamped into firewall

That is usually the actual body number (before vin numbers came in) The trim codes and other stuff should be on a plate on the firewall on another plate separate from the compliance plate. It should be the number on your rego paperwork, that and the engine number

Re: LC Lancer sloppy gear lever?

Yeah, it is the cup bush on the ball of the gearstick if it is anything like my sierra one was. So Lancers have the second bush right at the end of the lever inside the box too? Does the little one crap out too? or mainly just the one on the ball?

LC Lancer sloppy gear lever?

My 80 LC has the gear lever from hell, it is like stirring a bowl of tomato soup  Is there a bush in there that can disappear? If so, where can I get one? My Suzuki Sierra had the same thing and I just got a bush off spend bay, I looked for one for a Lancer but there was no sign of one?

Wow! I must be the first person to ever think of using siggy parts on a lancer? Pioneer? :banh:

Re: 4G52 ignition timing

If you want to advance the timing for the slower burning 95 octane, I advance timing to about 8 degrees (or til it starts idling way too high) and then put it in 4th and try to take off (handbrake on) and listen for pinging under load. If it pings, back off a degree at a time and do the load test ag...

1981 Sigma and 1980 LC Lancer parts compatability?

I have an 80 LC Lancer and have just picked up an 81 Siggy and am looking to find out what parts are interchangeable? I bought the Siggy to put the 2L 5 speed into the Lancer, the motor has only done 50000km (H) which is pretty cool, I am just wondering if the diffs are interchangeable or not, thing...
