Re: Stuck in gear

Most likely the gear stick. The plastic bush gets damaged easily and it may have come out jamming something. FOR the sake of a couple of bolts I"d pull it out and check there is nothing in there, and if you can manually move the selector shaft.

Re: Head gasket wont fit overbored 4G52

Precision International sell head spacer shims in 0.8mm and 1.5mm for under $50. Not really a gasket but it might help with raising the deck height to clear the pistons.

Re: HELP! No oil pressure in assembled 4G32b

I've had this problem in the past. Just cranking it over didn't work and I ended up killing a set of bearings. Now when i put an engine together I use an oil can to pump oil into the galleries, etc through the oil pressure sender hole. Once the galleries, pump and so on are full I put the sender bac...

I can't personally confirm they do as I haven't tried it, however King Springs (one of the biggest after market spring manufacturer in Australia) list part number KDRL83 in their catalogue as a standard height spring for an E30, and as a lowered spring for Galants, LB-LC Lancers and GE-GH Sigmas. Blocks are different. As you already have an auto block you will need the gearbox, flywheel, clutch and so on off a 2.0 litre motor.

I've purchased one from Yahoo Japan and had it sent over by Import Monster. Used sea shipping to get it cheaper but it wasn't quick. Jesse Streeter is another option I see recommended a lot. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any on there based on the quick look I just had but they do come up ...

The forums look pretty quiet lately so I thought I might post up a few pics of my Lancer doing what Lancer's do best and having some fun in the dirt. Re: Scorpion headlights

It can be done, however the headlight bucket for the GJ lights is welded to the radiator support panel. Should be a reasonable easy swap if you drill the spot welds out to remove from the donor car and weld it onto yours with some plug welds as the actual radiator support panel appears to be the sam...

I like the wheels. The red would depend on the final colour of the car but it's easy enough to change it if need be.

Mitsubishi made RWD Astron II manifolds to suit the Magna heads with the large rear water port. This is a standard RWD manifold. You can see the amount that the top of the manifold webbing drops between the upper bolt holes. https://scontent-syd1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/l/t1.0-9/14316829_10207307880037605_...

Re: Collision safety tests?

There were some tests done, I have seen a video of a Sapporo being hit in the rear as part of a crash test. That being said they probably won't be as detailed or as easy to find as newer cars. Even if you could find results is not going to make an ounce of difference to the fact that these cars will...

The there are 2 main separate parts to the wheel hub assembly. The wheel hub that the bearings go into, and the brake disc rotor. The disc rotors are bolted onto the wheel hub with 4 bolts and nuts. The nuts on the inside of the disc rotor can often be covered in grease and crap so they can be hard ...

The biggest issue I can see with older people retiring is loosing the knowledge of repairing older cars. Take an older car with a misfire to an old mechanic and he'll be like "It sounds like the points need to be set" and the jobs done in a few minutes. Take it to a young guy thats barely ...

If it's the factory knob then they just unscrew. They are a normal right hand thread, but there is usually a lock nut that is done up against the underside of the knob that needs to be loosened first.

Re: 4g52 + 4g54 II head

I believe all Astron 1 heads are the same, with slightly different cams. Astron 2 have a larger combustion chamber to suit the flat top pistons. Putting an Astron 2 head onto a 4g52 will result in a lower compression ratio. The later heads do have bigger valves, ports and so on. The preferred heads ...

Managed to convert them. The original wiring diagram is printed on a long sheet that unfolds. As you can see it's pretty fragile and starting to fall apart from age. It's not the best job as I was kind of rushing. All the scans overlap so you should be able to join them up into something understanda...

I usually fill them up through the oil sender hole, then crank the motor with the plugs out until it gets oil pressure. Should only take a few seconds at most, if it doesn't get oil pressure in a few cranks I keep squirting oil down the sender hole till it does. I don't see how the engine could even...

The Scorp most likely had a 3.3:1 diff, and the Galant will have a 3.9:1 diff. This will should make it accelerate better, but it will rev higher at higher speeds as you have found out. If you are happy to keep the 3.9:1 diff then there were models of the Sigma and Scorp that had similar ratios so y...

Yep. I've already got my entry in for the hillclimb. Picked up some magnets for the side numbers today, and I'm getting some new tyres tomorrow.

'm not expecting to be competitive, it's only my first real hillclimb after a come and try event a few weeks ago.
