Re: GC Galant , what master cyclinder to suit rear discs.

Why not use the Scorpion proportioning valve? It looks identical to the one in my GD wagon with boosted brakes, but it would be set up for the disc brakes. All that is required to put it in is a couple of spanners.

Re: its that time again.. - Galant Coupe -PICS ADDED

I hope you have replacement sections to go in. I would of made up the patch pieces before i cut that all out. Even if it was rusty you still need it so you know what shape to make the replacement pieces. The top of the windscreen, and the lower rear quarters, you may be able to use sections off the ...

Re: Newcastle

I think they were almost ready to kick us out after the 2nd race. The amount of carnage was unbelievable. Trying to go 3 wide probably wasn't the best idea. Not to mention how many times they had to stop us to fix the karts :)

Do you have a list of parts and/or prices of everything available? I need a heap of stuff for my Wagon and my Scorpions.

Photobucket resizes the images which makes it hard to read. If anyone wants a copy of the fullsize scan (approx 20Mb each pic) i can email it to them.

Re: its that time again.. - Galant Coupe -PICS ADDED

I wouldn't use an aerosol paint of any sort if you are planning to paint over it with a gun. It might be OK, but if not you will be stripping it all back to bare metal to redo it again. I even try and stick to the same brand all the way. At least you know it is all compatible and it's one less thing...

The Twilight double is only Thursday night. The weekend is A Christmas Carol and New Moon.

Go Karts would be good fun though. I went with a mate a couple of weeks ago and he wants to go again soon.

Re: Sandblasting or soda or others

The colour of the etch primer depends on the brand. Can't remember the brand i used at TAFE but it was a really dark green. I've also used Protec etch primer which was like a fluro green. Cost is similar to the undercoat - it actually costs a bit more, but you use a lot less. You just spray it on li...

I'm in Mannering Park - it's on the southern end of Lake Macquarie.

Got a bunch of Scorpions and a Galant wagon. None of them on the road at the moment. :(

Re: Sandblasting or soda or others

From the TAFE course i went to a couple of years ago we were told the following order. Bare metal Any filler as required - straight over the bare metal Etch Primer Undercoat Colour Clear if required. Obviously there will be sanding between coats as well, and some of these layers may also need multip...

Re: engineering large wheels

In NSW the diameter of the wheels isn't an issue. I could get 19's engineered on my Scorp if i wanted too. The only limit in the diameter is the outside diameter of the tyre. This needs to be kept within 15mm of the original tyre otherwise you will need to mess around with speedo calibration, etc. A...

Re: front strut brace

I've got one on the Corolla. I did notice a difference, but then again they aren't the most solid cars. I'd definently consider one for the Galant and even the Scorp after seeing the difference it made on the Corolla.

Still working on it. Just need to weld in the battery tray section to finish the welding on the front end, then fix up the rear quarters. Once i've done that i'll paint the underside with some Por15 and i can look at getting it on the ground and rolling again. Then i'll start getting the rest of the...

on a lighter note, i had a little scare when driftforlife started his car just behind me but still had it in gear - just about had to go back into maccas and check my undies  The 'drift' coming out of the twin servos probably scared him more though. Do you have an earth wire from the manifold to the body? a mates Magna had a issues with it not wanting to start, but when we connected the earth wire up it ran great. Perhaps the extra gaskets are insulating the manifold.

I locked the mechanical advance in my GL Scorp dizzy when i put the turbo on it. Standard Sigma turbo setup, running the otherwise standard Scorp ignition. It was the quickest and cheapest way to stop it detonating as I needed the car running ASAP.

Re: Hayne's/Gregory's workshop manual

They never did a Scorp manual. For mechanical stuff a Sigma manual is fine. If you want an actual Scorp manual you need the Factory Mitsubishi manuals. GE manuals (4 seperate books) for a GE Scorp, GH manual for the GH, then they went to Sapporo manuals for the later models. The Sapporo manuals also...

Dodgy Modifications

I've been surfing the web looking for recommendations on underbody sound deadeners for when I do the floor of the Galant. Happened to find someone who has 'tubbed' the rear end of his Commodore so the tyres don't scrub. This definently ranks high on the dodgy scale. http://forum.streetwagons.com/vie...

I would guess it is a breather of some sort. As the diaphram moves up and down to pump fuel, it would need some way of releiving the pressure on the other side of the diaphram.
