Re: Auto choke woes
Hi Dan, Sorry, I've only just seen this. What colour is yours? Not sorted a choke yet and come back here to investigate carb options as mine has started leaking. Probably try and pick up a cheap Weber or Solex. I don't know what my offset it to be honest, I'll need to measure. I'm running 20mm space...

Re: Auto choke woes
Ahh! Excellent, I'll investigate this. It makes sense that it would be seized as it does work sometimes. However, even when it does it's quick to disengage the moment you get on the road.

4G52 and 4G32 distributors
Are both distributors on these engines interchangeable? The parts (Dizzy cap, points etc) look physically the same so I was just wondering if they were identical units.
Second question - we don't get Mitsubishi Magnas over here so I was wondering if there was an easy option for electronic ignition?

Auto choke woes
It's winter at the moment so the Sigma doesn't come out much. In these low temperatures the autochoke still doesn't engage (doesn't matter so much in summer). The weird thing is, it will start and idle around 1000rpm absolutely fine. So does this mean that the autochoke is actually working? Just not...

They do tend to fall off once the clips wear out. One fell off on the motorway so I've ended up glueing it back on carefully.

Found these, they look like the right shape and they're a little more reasonable in price:

Hi guys, I need these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mitsubishi-Sigma-Scorpion-1977-1982-F-Idler-Arm-Bushing-SuperPro-SPF0602K-/380732437497?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58a56bf3f9 But I'd like to avoid £45 inc postage to the UK. Is there possibly a cheaper option, any likeness in the bushes...

Hi,
I've had the best luck on Ebay. It's not too bad but a lot of parts will need to be custom.

.. a gauge or is it just a light. Just a light unfortunately! The light comes on when the pressure drops below 5psi. At that pressure, the engine is doing itself damage, no matter what rpm. I use a 20psi switch just to be sure. Cheers. Fair enough - might be a good idea to see if Skap or someone el...

Thanks buddy, I'm just concerned about the fact that my engine is from 77 and all the kits seem to exclude it and start from 78. Like so: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131088853773?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Before I risk it, I thought I'd better just see if there wer...

Timing chain rattle
Hey guys, Getting timing chain rattle at idle when hot, while braking and whilst taking low speed corners. While driving it's totally fine however I'm fairly certain I'm going to need to change my timing chain. But having only sourced one in Australia, it's going to end up being a little expensive t...

Ok, found this topic:
http://www.sigma-galant.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=9805
So that answers that.
Going to get a new ballast resistor too - is this 1.6 Ohms? I know it is for the 4G32.

Re: Which coil should I buy?
After doing a bit of reading, it looks like the ballast resistor is for longevity of the coil rather than the points as I once thought. I'm not sure if this is correct. Does this mean I can just use a 12V coil on it's own?

Which coil should I buy?
Hi all, I've confused myself, which coil do I need for a GE Sigma with the 4G52 engine? I'm basically stuck between these two: DLB110: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ignition-Coil-Lucas-DLB110-6V-/230765907621?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35bab84ea5 DLB105: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/...

4G52 ignition timing
Hi all, Haynes says to adjust ignition timing to 3deg BTDC. As good as driving it day to day feels, it doesn't feel quite right at high revs when it's hot. I think this might be due to the timing being slightly off. I'm using 95RON and to be honest its pretty low calorie supermarket stuff (shoot me)...

Re: 4G52/54 intake manifold layout?
Ahh well I'd have to get a whole gasket set which will be about £100 with postage. Not something I can go spending right now. If nobody has a layout I can print, that's fine. It was worth an ask!

Re: 4G52/54 intake manifold layout?
Yes indeed but I still need the layout - I'm asking specifically if anyone has a printout I can use to make the manifold base outlines. I don't need a gasket as such.

4G52/54 intake manifold layout?
Hello chaps, I'm going to fabricate a new intake manifold to start my bike carb conversion which will just be the manifold clamping plate with 4 short pipes welded to it. I'll then attach to the silicone pipes to the bike carb. Would anyone happen to have the layout for the clamping plate or even th...

Agreed, we're really quite lucky. I've got my own unit up the farm but it's not the same at all. I think most of all the friends to help and keep you going/hand you beers when it goes wrong really helps.

Re: 1977 Colt Sigma from the UK
The rest of the summer, the Sigma was my daily. I used her for work, doing the shopping and going to see friends. Never missed a beat, although it's shown a couple of weaknesses such as the fuel pump being a bit tired. In late August I went to the frankly fantastic Great Dorset Steam Fair. Using my ...

Summer began with the beach party - essentially lots of very cool old cars on a beach in Somerset and lots of very friendly people. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures but I was papped making a trip up to the burger van. The Sigma's first proper outing after the MOT: http://i.imgur.com/EkvnSeRl....

After the diff swap I put her back into daily duties. There were a couple of odd jobs to do (aren't there always?) but I was determined to drive her as much as possible. In the midst of summer I stopped off at my friend Jon's (who also did all the lovely shots above and below) to drop off some tools...
