Re: fuses or relays ??

Hi mate, Not sure how far you've got with this... and I'm not quite sure what you're referring to, but I can guess... This is for a second fuse box, and you want to know what fuses to use (rating, type, etc?). The fuse box cover normally gives some idea, or the owner's manual. The workshop manuals d...

Re: 4G32 Alternator Upgrade

Not sure how straight forward the swap is, as I haven't done it, but it shouldn't be too hard to find a more gutsy alternator if required. The main things to check are that the mounting is similar enough, and that the electrical components are the same (ie whether the regulator is internal/external,...

Re: 4G52 and 4G32 distributors

Hmmm, I'm not certain whether the dizzies are the same, but I'd be careful making the assumption based only on the cap and points being the same. It's possible the parts are interchangeable, but the dizzy itself could be different, either subtley or majorly. Perhaps someone with more wisdom on here ...

Do you have to use two hands because the button is hard, or because the brake is too tight? You can loosen it off at the back wheel... Or get a new assembly. The button is only to release the ratcheting stop and release the brake...

Nice ride! Welcome to the forum.

Yeah, a bigger alternator is a good idea... it's easy enough to get one re-worked. Mine's up to 55A, but even that is on the low side :-) There's info on this in the electrical thread... feel free to take a look.

Have fun with your build!

Cool, the pic certainly helps! I'll refer to the wires coming out of the unit rather than the ones coming out of the connectors. So, if I have this right, the connector on the left is all on it's own and is irrelevant here? Looking at the conneector on the right, the red/yellow/white/blue coloured g...

Hey Angry, welcome to the site! I don't know exactly the details of the audio head you have, but am happy to take a few guesses. You may also be able to Google-search some stuff too. It sounds like you have the Acc, Pwr, light and earth sorted. With the speakers, they should all have a pair of wires...

Nah, not totally incorrect... R12 can't be bought or sold any more, and is no longer being manufactured (not anywhere that trades with us, anyway!), and so all that's left is all there is. So, unless you are a fridgey, it's as rare as rocking-horse poo, or for all intents and purposes, it no longer ...

Hi Jack, Given that you've investigated all the electrical stuff and ruled that out (buying new components), I'd think about checking your carbie next. Not only the fast idle, but also things like your fuel mix, blockages, etc, as these things will affect the cars' abilitiy to start as well as to id...

Niggling revs problem solved

Hey all, just thought I'd share a problem and solution I've had ongoing for a while now... Basically, for the last few months, I've had an issue where my Gal would suddenly lose power and the revs would drop off completely, only to come back after a couple of pumps of the loud pedal. I'd thought it ...

Re: engine starts but cuts out a couple seconds after.

I agree, it could well be the auto choke... it's important to pump the throttle before starting to engage it. It could also be that the auto choke isn't set up properly (fast idle adjustment), etc... it's certainly where I'd be looking first.

Following on from the last couple of responses, I'd be going through a systematic approach to diagnosis. Confirm power is there, then work back from the battery - is there power going to the solenoid? Is the car trying to start? Do you have a spark? Is there fuel being pumped? Hopefully it should be...
