Re: how do you bypassing ballast resistor on a ge?

I bypassed the balast resistor on my 4g32.. bad idea.
Went through three sets of points and pretty much a whole new distributor before working out it was the problem.
half fried my coil as well.

Re: Engine cut out while driving!

I wasnt keen on paying the $95 call out fee for the auto electrician so i decided to join RACQ road side assist for $40 per year. As soon as I hung up the phone I called road side assistance and literally within 3 minutes the guy was outside my house. He said I had a faulty rotor button. I've replac...

Re: Engine cut out while driving!

is the cap seating properly ? Nah it seems to have a little bit of play (wobble). And I've only tried the first lead. Is there any easy way to see if the leads are faulty? I've checked for cracks or splits in the leads that could be a leak but i couldn't find anything. Is the coil wired up backward...

Re: Engine cut out while driving!

I had another look today and my coil is getting spark, so I'm assuming its either a faulty distributor cap or the leads so I'm getting both of them tomorrow.

Engine cut out while driving!

The engine will turn over but won't start.
I've checked a few things and have found that my spark plug isn't getting any spark..
If i take off my dizzy cap and turn it over theres a spark.

200km ago i changed my plugs, distributor cap and the distributor button.

Any ideas of how to fix this?

Re: Cottees' 1980 Chrysler Lancer LC GL A73M Resto

Top 2 bolts were from the Blue/Silver LC were bent, and needed replacing. The parts from the Orange LC were not bent.
Would a possible cause of that be from hitting the gutter too hard straight on?

Yes my brake lights and reverse lights work. I had another look at it today using the same bulb method accept with an LED, and the power cuts at the dash loom.. Re: Car dash lights and parkers HELP!

Dash lights, cigarette lighter, fan lights (fan itself still works), tail lights are not working.

I checked the fuses, none of them are broken.. could it be a connection to the fuse box maybe?

Yer nah i don't have a trailer plug..

Re: 4g32 Vs 2.6 Astron in LC lancer

a 4g63 would be awesome, If i could get it for under $750.. I have just under 6 months registration, in that time It would be good to purchase a bigger motor and box, start working on it so that when my LC is off the road I can drop the new motor in and start to get it running. Whether or not I turn...

4g32 Vs 2.6 Astron in LC lancer

If my budget is $750 should I spend it on modding the 4g32 or just buy an astron 2.6?
Will $750 get me a decent astron engine and box?
What are the pro's and con's?

Or is there an easier "bolt in" motor I can drop into the lancer? SR20 perhaps?

Re: Leeroy's 1980 Lancer A73 resto project

Problem:

Front right wheel making grinding/rubbing noise when the car moves. The noise gets faster as the car increases in speed.
At first I thought this might be the wheel bearing but with a closer look I think its the front axle :/

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Is this legit? I know the picture doesnt look right, but thats the photo they use for all of the dash mats. It says that the mat is moulded to the dashes shape. Re: Problems with twin Solex carbies, keeps stalling

I don't know much about carbies but theres a little bubble window on the front of the carbies (facing the front of the car) that shows the amount of fuel being pumped in. According to my mechanic it should be at least half or a little over half way. Don't know if that helps with the possible fuel is...
