Re: Curly problem

From memory, U dont have to take the camshaft out (but I'm running off an old, faded memory)

As far as replacing the head,it really comes down to the price of repairing the current head compared to replacing it...me personally, it repair the original head

G'day Peter, I've been following your channel since the the beginning of your XW restoration and always look forward to an update. I've been meaning to get in contact fact with you regarding the Sigma as I have plenty of Sigma literature (former mechanic at Dandenong Mitsubishi, former employee at P...

I doubt they go for more than scrap tbh.....there was never really anything rare, special or limited about them (apart from the handful of DOHC heads that were made in Japan.)

If a mate has a spare head around.....a slab of there fav drink is usually a fair exchange

Re: Thinking of 4g52

I didnt think the size of the combustion chamber Had a direct effect on the compression...that usually deck height and piston design.......Astron I '54's run dished pistons whereas the Astron II '54 has flat-top pistons, squaring off the deck and increasing compression

What about looking at something "outside the box" (pun not intended)

Getting a complete disc to disc rear-end from a smaller car.....say a base model impreza...what about an E30 BMW? (I'm not sure if these cars have IRS or not...more merely a suggestion)

Re: Tech question. Why dont exaust valve stems run dry/coke

Ever thought of it to be honest I'm not sure of the answer but if I was to take a guess (and I emphasise the word "guess" ) I'd say 1) it is possible that the exhaust valves have gone through some form of hardening process to tolerate the heat of the burnt gases 2) some form of chemical re...

Sedans me wagons are different widths....

About the only (asthetic) components that are interchangeable are the guards and front doors....and even then there may be some slight differences

As far as I'm aware.... production of such an engine stopped many years ago (automotive production doesn't exist in Australia anymore and I can't see the benefit of running the same engine that was built 3 decades ago.......) Also, this "can't run an older engine unless it's on lpg" law se...
