Re: Wheelbarrows builds

Sadly that motor soon developed a miss, and was found to have low comp in no 1 cyl... :( So off came the head, to have a look see... nothing visibly wrong with the head, so i pulled down the bottom end... nothing visible there either... oh well... time to give it a refresh... what an exercise in fru...

Re: Wheelbarrows builds

To keep a track of how much grief i was giving the engine i decided that i needed a tacho, so instead of using the factory tacho dash out of the coupe, i bought a autotechnica tach and made it fit in the blank hole in the cluster. One bent bolt, a 90 degree bracket and removal of the clear plastic f...

Re: Wheelbarrows builds

I soon had the Galant put on club permit and started to enjoy slowly cruising around, untill one night when a ford fiesta xr4 gave me a run, and i couldn't keep up with him in a straight line ( corners were not a problem), i needed to up the horsepower. So thanks to KHRONY, i picked up the 4g32 he h...

Re: Wheelbarrows builds

They say the most expensive part of restoring a car is the reassembly, but that doesn't apply to tavos. I just cherry picked the best parts i had from the parts cars i had, cleaned them, maybe resprayed them ,and put them back on. The only new parts were the windscreen exhaust, tyres and other consu...

Re: Wheelbarrows builds

Now it was time for paint... originally i had wanted to respray it the same harvest yellow colour, but it was not available in 2 pack, so from the colour cards i picked a yellow called prairie yellow which apparently came on Mustangs in the seventies, it was not even close to the original colour, bu...

Re: Wheelbarrows builds

due to a little good fortune.. re no bids on eBay i managed to buy a gd sedan parts car for my coupe for like 180 bucks. it had a 1600 with a blown head gasket, 5 speed conversion, and a near new battery that was a bit flat. but i couldn't complain for 180 bucks. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...

Re: 4G32 Rocker gear advice?

Also it may pay to check the rocker gear is actually getting oil. Take out the dizzy if its a chain drive and using a flat screwdriver bit in a long extension and a drill you can run the oil pump.

Re: Keep or remove vinyl roof?

Whether to keep or remove the vinyl depends on a number of things. What color will it be repainted. If its a modern color then bin in. If you are keeping it old school or near stock and if it already has a vinyl roof keep it. The best way to go about keeping it is to get the roof sprayed body color....

I can confirm your small clutch theory. I pulled a 1600 4 spd out of a gc wagon and also found that it had the small clutch.

Re: 4g32 with no5 regrind timing.

No one wants to divulge the cams specs. Why? I don't know. Must be a works no 5 cam sect or something. Would help the guy recurving the distributor heaps to know the cam specs. As he calculates induction cam compression and gearing to set the distributor for that combo.

4g32 with no5 regrind timing.

I have just put a 4g32 into my gd galant. It is running I'm told a regrind no 5 cam , twin 40 mm webers and the compression is unknown. But I guess between 9 and 10: 1 . It is running the standard distributor with the vac advance disconnected. Now I know the idle timing specs for a stock motor are ar...

Re: Gh sigma 5 speed to 4g32

Yep you will need to use the astron flywheel, clutch and probably the starter motor too. you will also need to open up the shifter hole in the floor. the trans mount will need to be changed, to suit the trans. either out of a lb lc lancer 5spd if you can find one or cut and weld your own. also chang...

Re: Correcting speedo

Yes i'm running 13x6 with 205 60 rubber, which is the same as standard. The GJ ran 14's with 185 70 or 75, which is definetly a taller tyre. So does anyone know what speedo gear -color/number of teeth, LC lancers with the 5 speed and 13 inch wheels ran? As i beleive this is what i'm looking for. Reg...
