Chrome on ally seems like an idea, but get a load of the oxide. It will lift the chrome plating in a sheet if it gets damaged, and the electrolytic reaction between the chrome and alloy will hasten it...

Pyrometer- in exhaust manifold. It will tell you what's going on in your combustion chambers....
