Re: Drum brake parts?
Just take off the wheel, then the drum, and you'll be able to see all the parts, and match them to the photo on the RockAuto web page. Take a picture. Also check the diameter of your brake drum. I think there are only two sizes that are possible (9" and ?10").

LA Lancer stripe -- anyone seen it?
Hi everyone A while ago, I saw a picture of an LA Lancer with a stripe on the side. I've been trying to find it again, but no luck. Has anyone seen a stripe like the one in this image? http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah31/greenlancer/LAstripe1_zpsonlmyvbe.jpg If you can post a pic or a link I wo...

Re: HELP! No oil pressure in assembled 4G32b
Thanks for the help. I did manage to solve it easily. I pulled the timing belt, put a drill on the oil pump sprocket nut, and cracked the oil filter a few mil. After about 30 seconds of spinning the oil pump shaft, there was oil aplenty coming out of the filter. Job done!! Car runs like a dream agai...

HELP! No oil pressure in assembled 4G32b
Hi everyone I just replaced the front and rear oil seals in my engine. After re-assembly, I cranked the engine for up to 25 secs at a time to circulate the oil before connecting fuel and spark -- but no oil pressure, and the filter is empty. Clearly the oil pump isn't working. Does a trochoid pump n...

Lancer parts in the UK?
Hi everyone
I'm about to go on holiday in the UK for 6 weeks, and I would like to look for cool parts over there for my LA Lancer. Any parts are like hen's teeth here in Perth. I think were called 'Colt Lancer' over there.
Anyone know a place in the UK where I might find some parts?
Thanks!!
Mick

which cam is this? (4G32)
Hi everyone I just gained possession of a belt-drive 4G32 in a 76 LA Lancer, and the bloke who sold it to me said it had a #5 cam in it. However, he wasn't exactly truthful with anything else he told me about the car, so I am more than a bit doubtful. Anyway, I've got a photo of the numbers stamped ...

LA guards: are 2 and 4-door different?
Hi everyone
Can someone tell me if the front guards are the same on a 2-door and 4-door LA Lancer? I looked through previous topics, but couldn't find any info.
Thanks
Mick

put oil on head bolt threads?
Hi everyone
this is the first time I've done a head gasket on my 4G32 . Should I put oil on the head bolt threads? I've been reading about it and there seems to be a bit of disagreement.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: HELP! -- 4G32 timing belt tension?
I haven't changed the belt, so I'm not worried about number of teeth. Today I readjusted the tension to match the dictated 6 mm distance, so at least it's not too tight. The deflection is close to 10 mm, but it's at the required 6 mm from the edge of the cover, which is according to the manual. Fing...

Re: HELP! -- 4G32 timing belt tension?
OK -- found that the distance from back of the belt to the cover should be 6 mm. I assume that's when it's deflected by hand? ... with reasonable force?? When released, the belt is a bit slack using this measurement. Is that normal? I don't want to overtighten the belt, but I don't want it jumping t...

HELP! -- 4G32 timing belt tension?
Hi everybody -- I've just replaced the water pump on my belt drive 4G32, and I need to know how to re-tension the timing belt. The manual says just to let the tensioner spring provide the correct tension, but if the tensioner is loosened, there is no tension. How do I know how far to push the tensio...

Re: ignition wiring questions
Hi Davetrees Not a dumb question! The car had a coil and resistor when I got it, but the wiring was a bit screwed up. The wire that normally would have gone from the coil to the 'start' wire from the ignition switch was actually attached to a chassis ground but wasn't making a good connection (every...

ignition wiring questions
Hi everyone I just installed a GT40R coil with a 1.6 ohm ballast resistor in my 4G32 points-dizzy LA Lancer. However, it seems that my car didn't originally come with a resistor, so I can't find a wire to connect to the coil side of the resistor. Can I connect to the 12v switch wire on the starter s...

Re: Knox auto carpets?
I bought carpets for my 75 LA 2-door in January -- black loop pile. They look good, but they are way oversize and don't fit well without a LOT of work. Took me a day and a half to fit them! Original Lancer carpets never went underneath the sill plates, and the Knox ones do, unless you cut them back,...

carpets for LA 2-door?
G'day everyone and happy holidays!
Anyone know where to buy carpets for the 2-door LA Lancer? I checked TruFit and was surprised to learn that they don't have a mould.
Any help greatly appreciated!!!
Cheers

Re: Factory Radiators
I just took an old LA Lancer radiator down to my local radiator shop and had it re-cored – with a triple-core - for only $350! It's been 40 degrees here in Perth the last few days, and no overheating at all, even when stuck in traffic.
Now if i only had air-con!

stock seats are not good (crep)
Hi Merry Christmas! Maybe the only reason to keep the original seats in my LA Lancer 2-door is that's what it came with. But they're not real flash. And mine are disintegrating into little strips of vinyl.... Does anyone know what would be good seats to put in, with no or little modification require...

Howdy folks
The heater valve in my LA is leaking. Actually, it's been leaking all along, but it's getting worse. Anyone know if there are other heater valves that will work in the LA, and that might be available?
Cheers
