Nah not local Dave. He was actually a forum member on here too. It is a A172 shell not a 75, but everything fits in and they look identical. Best part is there is no rust :D

Re: My GN Wagon (GRANDPA)

Small update, Grandpa is sold .... He is still on the forums and will be a very serious bit of gear in the next few months. I am going to help with the heart transplant just to make sure he survives  . I think a few of you will be impressed by what the new owner has lined up  BTW it w...

Re: help with v6 conversion??

I think it is a great swap. It all depends really on what you want to achieve with your car as to what way you should go.Yes there is great arguements to both sides on here, however as there is plenty of motors available and there is a kit for the conversion meaning you could keep the costs down if ...

Re: My GN Wagon (GRANDPA)

Hi Dave, Yep conversion is underway. Honestly i think i may have bitten off more than i can chew, and it can't see it being on the road for at least 2 months. i have a manual conversion, engine conversion, efi conversion, brake conversion and then exhaust/intercooler work. I never do things in halve...

Re: My GN Wagon (GRANDPA)

Well both motors are out, and the cleaning/fixing stuff has begun. I noticed some things when looking around the empty bays that i will most likely have to transfer over. Re: My GN Wagon (GRANDPA)

What sort of brake setup do you have. The GN's only had drum brake rears. They were not even an option. You really do need a brake upgrade if you want to use the power and keep it on the black stuff. I have the complete Starion brake package (including the booster)I took the rears also for when i b...

Re: My GN Wagon (GRANDPA)

Organizing the fuel and exhaust system will take longer than the motor swap over. I hope so! The Starion has a 3 inch exhaust on it, so i am hoping i can use some sections of that. I am just using the bosch 910 fuel pump that was in the starion too. Wiring in the Haltech is going to take the longes...

Re: My GN Wagon (GRANDPA)

So change of plans again. I have taken the car from the mechanics, and am going to put the starion motor in after all. I have a bunch of mates coming over to help me pull the engine out and fit the new one over the long weekend. I figure f#ck it! It's to nice a car to just do half a job. So now the ...

Re: My GN Wagon (GRANDPA)

A little update. The car has been sitting at the mechanics for about 2 months now while i decide it's future. I kinda spent way to much money on my holiday to New Zealand, so my grand plans have had to be downsized. We took the head off as it was using a small amount of water, and i figured it deser...

Re: Starter Motor

I think your right Rob, the one in there now is a Bosch, and the replacement one is exactly the same size. The car was a one owner and came with the log books, and al thel reciepts are there for any work done but no starter motor. The car has only done 105,000kms but it did have a blown headgasket f...

Re: help with haltech

Are you turning the ignition off and on for the reset? If not look up the haltech website. It has heaps of info and will sort you out in no time. A ja starion with a 2.6 turbo? Not sure if you're aware or not, but in Aus these never came out with this motor. would be keen to see a pic.

Goodluck.
