Re: Mods to L200's and D50's

Hey guys, I've got an 85 L200 4X4, would it make sense for me to go down the turbo route, or would I be better off upgrading the carby or just going EFI considering I take it off road? At the moment it's got a G63B from an L300 I guess and it struggles at 80kmph and the carby seems pretty routed :( ...

L200 4X4 handbrake help

I've got a 1985 L200 4X4 that came without a handbrake. I grabbed one off a 2X4 L200 but it was too short. Does anyone know if a handbrake from any other model Mitsi such as an L300 4X4 or Pajero etc would fit?

Thanks

Hey just wondering how your Colt project is going? I'm in Launy too and I've got a nice straight Colt myself with a shitty motor and am starting to ponder my options as to what I'm going to do with it.

Re: HELP! 4G63 (G63B) radiator fan broke off!

The ute is so loud (it sounds like an army tank), I honestly didn't hear it coming! I knew the water pump was on it's way out though, because it was leaking and was going to replace it ASAP anyways.... I've was hoping it would be a simple procedure to remove the pump, but after trying to undo the bo...

HELP! 4G63 (G63B) radiator fan broke off!

As the title says, my radiator fan has broken off! I'm not sure why, I'm wondering if a faulty water pump could have caused it? My water pump did have a leak and I was due to replace it, any how I opened the bonnet to top up the water and discovered the fan against the radiator. The belt is still in...

Re: New fuel pump wont pump?

Thanks for the awesome responses so far! I pulled the hose from the pump to the carb the other day and it was dry. I'll check over my lines as bavetrees suggests. probably a dumb answer, but how do I know if the pump is properly aligned on the actuating lobe on the cam? I've used the proper spacer f...

New fuel pump wont pump?

So I worked out the timing as I explained in my other thread and now my 1985 4WD L200 will start, but only for a few seconds, and only when I pour some fuel down the carby. It's as if the fuel pump isn't pumping fuel? I've tried two brand new fuel pumps, and no luck! The engine is a G63B with a mech...

Thanks for all the input guys. I took the cover of the distributor to check it was going to #1, but as I was sliding it in the cog was moving it way out of place. I worked out how to insert it so it would spin to position 1, then I replaced the cover and she started! Now I've just gotta get another ...

Please help me learn to do timing on G63B!!

Hi all, I'm pretty stuck with trying to do the timing on my G63B... I've never done timing before on anything myself, so I've pretty much got no idea what I'm doing! I had to take the distributor out to replace the inlet manifold gasket, now I can't get my ute running again and I'm getting desperate...

Indicator stalk/modules to suit a 1985 L200?

Does anyone know if an indicator stalk/module from any other Mitsubishi model will fit a 1985 L200? I tried an 82 L200 but it has 2 less pins than the 85 one and wouldn't operate the indicators. I also tried one from a 1985 L300 van but it was also 2 pins short and wouldn't operate the indicators al...

Re: G63B = 4G63?

Hi thanks for the info and suggestions. I read through a lot of those links and was settled a bit! The 4G63 was already out of the 4X4 L200 so I matched up the gearbox that came with the G63B with the 4G63 and it fit perfectly, so it should go into the ute no problem. I've read about both motors and...

G63B = 4G63?

I put an add out chasing a 4G6B or a 4G54 and I got a few replies. One guy said he had a well running 4G6B for $250 including the gear box and radiator etc so I went and picked it up. When I got home (after a two hour drive) I noticed that it was actually a G63B. I've never heard of them before but ...

Re: Swap a 4G63 with 4G32 into 4X4 L200

I found a 4G63 motor for cheap not too far away.I've also had a few offers of 4G54's from some wreckers a bit dear though... Is there any reason not to go a 4G63 over a 4G54? Which motor is better?

There's an Hyundai Sonata GLE 16V 1993 for cheap locally. They use a 4G63 motor I think? I'm guessing it's fuel injected, would this be an issue? Was told it's twin cam....Can I just chuck on the carby etc from my own 4G63 motor? Or would I have to install the Sonatas computer etc?

Re: Swap a 4G63 with 4G32 into 4X4 L200

The 32 is currently in an 2WD L200, so I was hoping it would be a straight swap. If the 63 is a wide block my only option would be to rebuild the 63 I guess? Not worth the hassle trying to get a 32 in there huh?

Swap a 4G63 with 4G32 into 4X4 L200

I thought I'd make a new thread as the topic has now deviated a bit from identifying a motor. What I'm wanting to know now is would I have any trouble dropping a 4G32 from a spare L200 into my 4X4 L200 that previously had a 4G63 in there? I'm hoping to do the swap ASAP to get the ute on the road whi...

Re: How to identify the type of motor?

Alright I had a closer look and the block for the 4X4 is a 4G63, and the engine in the other L200 is a 4G32. Now while I rebuild the 4G63 am I able to drop in the 4G32 into my 4X4? Will it mate up fine with the current gearbox?

Thanks

Re: How to identify the type of motor?

Hi guys thanks for the info so far. If the motor for the 4X4 is indeed a 4G63 does it need to be modified in order to add a turbo set up?
