Re: LC Lancer Circuit/Rally Car
Yeah surge tank was from ebay. I was originally going to use a box mounted where the back seat was but the way did it was a neater solution (but not real rally friendly!). It would of been aluminium as lexan wouldn't be suitable for a "firewall" from the passenger compartment. I've got som...

Re: Boring the 4G54?
To get 135 bhp at the wheels out of a 4G54 it will need mods that will make it crap for towing. 110-120 would be about the limit and that will take CAM, valve springs, compression, carb/inlet, exhaust and possibly more. It won't be happy on anything but 98 fuel as well, not good for the outback.

Re: Boring the 4G54?
Electric water pump is a bad idea. Reliability of the universal ones is not there yet, are you going to $400 worth of spare pump and controller? There are two different gearbox patterns, different flywheel diameters, different style of starter motors (some FWD fit RWD, but not all) two different tim...

Re: Boring the 4G54?
I drove the Scorpion for a couple of years and I don't recall it being as souless as the Commodores, although I do agree they have fairly solid power throughout the range. My daughter has blown her VS transmission so I've just been going through classifieds chasing a box. Complete crashed VS Commod...

Re: Boring the 4G54?
Go and find yourself a TS Magna and see if you think the 4G54 has any character. It doesn't. In fact, it's like a smaller, older, less powerful, more expensive version of the 3.8. I've got a VS V6 rally car, buying the car with a good running engine was about the same price as modifying the Magna in...

Re: Boring the 4G54?
I have a modified 4G454 in one of my race cars, but there is no way I could recomend you use one in this situation. Firstly, finding rear wheel drive second hand parts is starting to get difficult, it could be very difficult out in the middle of nowhere. Same for the bike carbs, have a problem and i...

Re: Shock Relocation - Will It Work?
The good old Nissan H190 diff has been used in many drag cars, heaps of cars running 9's and a few with 8's. Common in 720 utes and Series 3 bluebird's here (amongst other stuff) You do realise a kilowatt is more then a horsepower...?? Softening up is not the only downside, it also leads to binding ...

You want the shocks to be vertical, any angle on them will reduce the effectiveness.

Woohoo, made it to Oran Park!

Got a few things to fix after the day, namely a noisy diff and blown up engine! Handling is good, power was way too low and will need to be rectified when the engine is rebuilt.

Re: LC Lancer Circuit/Rally Car
So a busy few days, not all productive, but busy... Firstly, when it was first started an inlet manifold leak was found and fixed which made it behave a bit better. Then with it running on the hoist with the wheels dangling down, the sway bar rubbed on the fanbelt and it snapped. There is about 2mm ...

There was talk of the ute being revived in time, guess it's not going to happen!

Re: LC Lancer Circuit/Rally Car
It's got two full leaves and a half leaf, three and a half was too stiff on the LA so am trying a little softer for more cornering traction. Shocks mounts are all stock.

Do you have the fuel pump relay? It will turn them off and on properly. A seperate switch can get nasty in an accident.

Re: GC Galant , what master cyclinder to suit rear discs.
The proportioning valve effectively limits the amount of rear brake bias, so it will do exactly what you want it to. In an ideal world you would increase the bias to the front with a staggered master cylinder setup, but that's going to be much harder.

Re: URGENT HELP: Clutch wont move
Having hooked up the loom on the weekend (or I should say having an auto-electrician mate hook it up whilst I was doing other stuff...) showed that it is easy enough, except for one problem, we couldn't find an ignition switched power source that was on when the ignition was in the "start"...

Re: fuel pump cut out switch?
Tachymetric relay, it's designed for what you want and used in LPG setups. Either an auto electrician or LPG installer will have one.
