Still have the wagon. Just time and money. When I have time I have no money, When I have money I have no time. Vicious cycle.

Re: 76 GD Wagon (daily Battle wagon)

Warped head probably means overheated at some stage which would cause the water to mix with the oil most probably from the rear water jackets to the oil return galleries when the engine is warm.

Re: 4G32 cam in 4G30 - no inlet valve clearance

I had this problem many years ago after fitting custom stainless O/S valves to my 4g32. Was fine with a reground cam that I was using at the time when the machine shop installed the valves but when I went back to a stock no6 cam I had the same problem. So out came the grinder to give some clearance....

You are starting to get a collection going there. Where have you been finding these? I have been looking for a parts wagon for a while now. Must not be looking hard enough or in the right places.

#6 is a number one suited for emissions am i wrong?
it is the same as a no2 that's found in the 4g32gs motor, same valve timing and lobe heights.

Re: Mitsubishi works cam tuning

I still think u should try a stock camshaft. The no5 cam was designed for larger carbs than the factory down draughts. I think that daves no5 is a regrind and doesnt draw as much volume of air as an original no5 cam hence why his motor performs. I played around with many stock and reground cams and ...

Re: Mitsubishi works cam tuning

I would try putting in a standard no 1 or 6 camshaft and see if you still get the pinging. I am guessing that with the 1.5os pistons and works cam u may be running lean at higher rpm. Works motors used the 4g32gs dizzy which had a static timing of 13` btdc and a different advance curve.

Re: 4G32 Valve clearance ?

Do you have a standard camshaft or is it a regrind? You should do the clearances on a warm motor, .15mm and .25mm I think from memory for a stock camshaft.

If you use the original 4x4 gearbox and transfercase you will not be able to use 4wd on the bitumen without getting gearbox wind up. 4wd is only designed for offroad use.

It is a pre-Astron 80 Astron. As in before they put in the balance shafts. Will post pic I have of an original Astron when I get home. This is the true astron 1 motor. They started with the 4G51 1850 then came the 4G52 2000. These came in the gc/gd style galants and gto,s. Mitsubishi then installed...

I had one as a company car years ago.It got shared around alot and was never serviced and ended up with the same problem. I'd say its probaly only had an oil change once a year and the bores are glazied. U could try an oil flush and fresh oil to try and deglaze the bores and free up the rings otherw...

Early block on exhaust side has extra water galleries just looked at a gregories, u probaly have the early head gasket on now. U will need the later head gasket to block off these water galleries.

Not what i wanted to hear. Thanks brugs. It is running lean though. Pings under load below 3k I will check coolant flow.. Retard the timing a bit, if running lean and pininig you are creating extra heat and also destroying your rings and will eventually do the head gasket or crack a piston and dest...
