Re: cracked strut top rubbers
Ive replaced mine with new, they lasted about a year and a half of daily driving with pretty hard shocks and springs. The tops where after market mind you, and i guess mitsi stuff would be better.they arnt that cheap tho, so looking into a solid mount type mite not be a dumb idea. The only thing i ha...

Re: 4G63 SOHC carby to DOHC Twin Webers
What dwlee said. Ive got a ported big port AMG with 55mm throttles and yeah, its shit round town under about 5000rpm.So im building up a small port now, they are far far better. The other advantage with the small port head is that you can just bolt on the later model EVO intake mani etc and it all po...

Re: 4G63 SOHC carby to DOHC Twin Webers
Im doing a similar build with an AMG DOHC 4g63 and quad R1 bike carbs in my lancer. If you can get a small port head it will be much better than the large port vr4 style heads. Why not just use a complete DOHC engine? No having to worry with changing pistons. pulleys and the timing gear etc. In rega...

Re: cracked strut top rubbers
Yes they can, but will only pop through to the point where the spring seat stops it.The real issue is the fact that the shock/strut can "fall out" of the top hat. Have recently had the same issue with my LA lancer and ended up taking the rubber out, fitting a steel sleeve and welding it al...

Re: 4g63 Cam and Gilmer Belt Drive Q's
Who did your cam?Does it go a heap better?
Is it hyro or solid lifters?
I might have another look at gilmours again, know a few guys here in rotorua who may be able to machine somthing up.Wont be cheap tho, guessing about $600 to do it.

Re: 4g63 Cam and Gilmer Belt Drive Q's
Ive been looking into this also (gave a few replies on oldschool), from what i can gather it is going to be easier to just get the pulleys made up to suit although im not sure how close the pulleys from a 12a would be.There bucket loads of them floating around. Still keen on a set if you end up gett...

Re: LA lancer brake upgrade
It was just spongy, car has been sitting a while so it could really be a combination of things.I need to spend some more time on it. The king springs are KPS-160 and are 175Lb.threaded sleeves and etc. Wat kinda spring rate do most ppl use in the front of an LA with a 4g63?Im guessing the extra weig...

Re: Ok, has ANYONE done a GJ SE auto to manual???
Just a note (if not already stated), over here in nz we have jap imports, so they are different than the ozzy cars.things like diff ratios, gearboxes and engines are normally alot different.eg, ozzy never got sohc 4g63 in there sigmas just lime how we never got 4g52 powered sigmas.

Re: Steering box shorter ratios?
Ive used a 1800GSR EX lancer steering box.Gives slightly less turns (maybe 2 turns less lock to lock), but really hasnt made the car any better on the track.I doubt you would ever find any 1800GSR bits in ozzy.I found that replacing all my ball joints etc and getting a new wheel alignment made the m...

Re: L200 4x4 4g63 WHERE CAN I GET AN AFTERMARKET CAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty much any cam place should do it, i dont know about ozzy but its not hard at all to find cams for these. If fitted a high lift 290 degree cam in my 4g63 in my la lancer and a down draft weber and headers.Really makes it go a hell of alot better. If you can find a cam from a 4g63 sigma they have ...

Lancer Engines
Hey guys, over here in NZ we have a new classic jap race series that has started up.There are pretty lenient rules in regards to what can be fitted to the cars, although i have one concern. The engine. The rules state that: 18. Engines must be of original fitment – no hybrids. No late model engines ...

Re: 76 galant gearbox = 83 lancer gearbox??
Gearbox will mount fine, crossmember will be fine, only issue is goin from 4sp to 5sp as the bolt holes for the mount are further apart, can be fixed with a drill. Dont think there are any 4wd boxtypes/EX lancers, never seen one ever or even heard of one, but would be awsome!!!Specially a 4wd GSR tu...

Re: Quad 38mm Motorbike carb's on an Astron
very nice build and great the see the HP increase!!! Im doing somthing very similar in my LA lancer. using the 48mm R1 carbs on a AMG DOHC 4g63.Redline around 9000rpm (maybe higher) I noticed your manifold idea.Im in the middle of thinking about how to do my manifold, what sorta difference do you gu...
