Re: NSW cruise 24/3/2013 Windsor to Wiseman's Ferry
Nath76LA mentioned to me that you were organising this cruise.... It would be advisable for someone to recce this route beforehand. I went through Lower Portland to Webbs Creek 2 weeks ago. There was light rain at the time and a grader was on the road. Very muddy and slippery in several places esp o...

Re: WHO OWNS A STAZZ?
I looked for a good Starion early this year (unsucessfuly) after missing out on a good posibility in Qld. Ironically, the aforesaid (almost pristine & unmolested) Starion was bought by a very near neighbour, who presently competes with it in classic rallies. He also owned a Starion from the firs...

Generic 5.75" halogen inserts are less than $50/pair on eBay.. (Hella or Cibie inserts are pricier, but better quality). For normal road use the generic ones (eg. Autopal) are fine. Just put good quality globes in them (I use 100/90w in the outers & 100w in the inners) ... and switch them ...

Re: na sohc 4g63 worked ?
Sounds like what you are after is the same as what my dad used to have in his old GB. It was a 4G63 GS motor with flat top pistons, cam, and twin solex carbies putting out about 100kw, all off a early Sapporo GSR from NZ. Unfortunately these motors weren't sold in Aus and are getting hard to find e...

Re: Are galant sedan and coupe leafs compatable?
My dad added half a leaf but think he turned the half leaf upside down and fitted for memory 2 inch lowering blocks. When I did a motokhana on a wet skid pan a couple of months ago, the car would not axle tramp which I was quite impressed with. I can't remember for sure what shocks are in the rear ...

Sven, Wish I had a 4G63GS again.....in my Hardtop. These engines were never sold in Australia (or Japan). Many years ago, I had a '73 GB sedan which I fitted with a local 4G63 from an '85 L300 (this year model was the only one which had the required 9.5:1 compression ratio), imported the manifold/ca...

I'll add my 2 bob's worth..... Originally GA/GB had square exhaust port heads and GC/GD had round exhaust ports as did LA/LB Lancer. Early GC sedan/wagon and probably all GC Hardtops had narrow round port head with no EGR galllery. My very late 4/76 GC Hardtop with original motor is this version. LA...

Re: adjusting toe (camber) in GC sedan
Galant A arms are the same length as the older model sigma, the newer ones are longer. To achieve some neg camber, the "race" Galant I bought had holes drilled in the crossmember about 1inch further out to mount the A arms, they also had a spacer under the rear bolt to help with bump/roll...

Yes......All GA to GD steering boxes do interchange. It is possible to adjust the free play, but if the box is at all rough in operation, the worm drive gears may be impact damaged. (Usually caused by whacking a gutter) You will probably find the spare box also needs adjusting. Just caught up with ...

I have an early 4G32 balance shaft (square tooth belt) I fitted with with 4G37 (round tooth belt) camshaft and cam, crank, oil pump gears. I did this a few years ago and don't recall counting the teeth, but I don't think this is your problem. The 4G73 was an early Nimbus with adjustable tappets. Try...

Used to be a couple of EX turbo 4WD versions rallying in Oz. Do't know if they were 2litre or 1.8litre. One in WA (Mal Crockenburg), and one with ACT rego. Marginal increases only............I seem recall a figure of 95kw for 4G63GS as fitted to the Sapporo GSR (as per NZ workshop tuning guide by Leigh Mardon). The 4G63 carbs have 30/32 throats (not venturis) compared to 4G52's 28/32 throats. Shorter engine than a 4G52 and lighter than the balance shaf...

You overlooked 4G63GS. (SOHC 8 valve, twin carbs) Sold in NZ in Sapporo GSR. Same 9.5:1 pistons as early L200/L300 in Oz. Carbs, manifold and cam becoming difficult to locate in NZ. I converted my GB and a LB more than 20 years ago. More pwer and torque than 4G52GS and completely reliable..............

Thanks for that confirmation Lee, regarding boring 4G33 to 4G32. I seem to recall this was possible. It is exactly the question I was asking in another thread last week...... As I understand, fitting a 4G32 head to a 4G37, or conversley overboring a 4G32 and using 4G37 pistons and the 4G32 head, wil...

I'll show my age too......Had 5 Galants, all pre 1976, for a total of about 23 years......... My 7th car was an R Series Valiant (manual, factory floor change, widies, lowered, Lukey exhaust) which was rusting away, as I lived in Bondi Beach at the time. I traded it on a new GA Galant 1500 in 1972 (...

I have worked on early Canters with 2.4 Astron 4G53 (non-balance shaft)....I may have some specs on it. There may be some of these still around.
L300 4WD and Starwagon of early '90s had injected 2.4 litre 4G64 SOHC 8 valve. Current L300 has 4G64 SOHC 16 valve
