Gold does look good, but is body colour dependent.

I'd like to see gun metal grey with polished spoke faces...

I need to order to a cap, points, rotor and condenser for my distributor which is stamped as T3T03874.

Looking and sounding good Dave!

You might provide some more inspiration for me to kick things back into gear now that I will have a garage in the next couple of weeks.

What's the plan with the brown wagon, scrap?

Re: OddlyShaded's GA Galant

That booster is a strange setup. Have you thought about removing it?

They don't increase breaking, so if you're breaks are setup well you'll hardly notice the difference.

Sounds like a fuse if all three have gone. If the fuse blows to the instrument cluster the charge light will come on.

Re: Oil in intake manifold

Bad-sig you're problem sounds very similar. I'm not really any closer to solving the problem yet as time has been limited as always. I opened up the throats today straight after it was running. There seemed to be no oil at first and then it slowly collected. It doesn't blow much smoke though, just a...

Re: Oil in intake manifold

I put the intake back on the car the other day because I think I'll need to swap the head anyway to fix the problem.

I took it for a drive and left the breather open with no filter. There was no signs of oil coming out.
So I think the motor is ok, which makes sense seeing it has good compression.

Re: Oil in intake manifold

I think it's a hairline crack in the head somewhere near the intake.

Time for a head swap me thinks.

Re: Oil in intake manifold

The head is reconditioned though. Catch can has a breather connected, not hooked up to the intake at all. There was some oil leaking from the oil filler cap onto the rocker cover and running off. The air filter was clean, but is it all possible the oil soaked through the intake gasket, like around t...

Re: Phils GA Galant

Nice one Dave trees. I didn't appreciate the difference of dgv vs dfv. Which is why I went the dgv option.

Dfv carbs seem to be a bit hard to get off the shelf.

I'll pm regarding the carb.

Re: Oil in intake manifold

I thought about that, but how would it collect in the bottom of the intake?

I had a good look at the head today and couldn't see anything unusual. There didn't seem to be any oil residue on the tops of the intake runners in the head. Stems seemed ok.

Further to the above,do saturns need the dfv weber?

Re: Phils GA Galant

See photo above, the weber is a dgv with autochoke. Have many people used these dgv carbs on saturns? Talking to a friend today who said it should be mounted 180 degrees with the choke on the motor side. I can't mount the carb that way, as it fouls out on the thermostat. Anyone have more info/explan...

Oil in intake manifold

So a while ago I during a carb swap I noticed oil pooling in the bottom of the intake manifold. I took the manifold off and noticed some of the intake studs were only finger tight and when I took them out some oil pooled in the threads. My thinking was that oil was drawing out the intake studs and g...

Re: 4g32 Crank Case Ventilation

Yeah very high, the motor has had some substantial work done to it and was running in a rally car prior to me owning it. The guy I bought it off was unable to give me specifics on the motor. I want to confirm the compression with another tester. The motor seems to use a small amount of oil and have ...

Re: 4g32 Crank Case Ventilation

Cheers guys, what I thought. The reason I'm asking is I seem to have some problems with crankcase pressure, filler cap popping off. I've done multiple compression tests it is really good, between 190 and 210. I want to test it with another compression tester as i have some doubts mine is accurate. A...

4g32 Crank Case Ventilation

Hey guys, I'm after some information on crankcase ventilation in the 4g32. I've searched through the site and there seems to be limited info on the specifics of how it functions. We all know there is a crankcase breather on the front of the motor. Talking to other car enthusiasts, crankcase ventilat...

Re: 4g32 wrong head?

Did you buy this motor recently from victoria by chance? I had problems with an incompatible head and block, including coolant galleries in the head overlapping the side of the block. The head was from a late model, the block was from an early model. There are a few variations I think. It should be ...

Re: Phils GA Galant

So the motor is running pretty well at the moment. No coolant, oil loss so i think sealing up the intake manifold studs has fixed the issue. The weber has a pretty good choice for reliability and general driveability. It needs a tune ( i havent played with it at all) and im not sure the electric cho...

Re: Phils GA Galant

The head is newly reconditioned. My thinking was that some of the intake manifold studs intersect oil ports in the head. Because the studs were removed when the head was reconditioned they probably didn't seal up properly when reinstalled. Further to the coolant issue, upon looking more into catch c...

That's some pretty serious rust by the looks of it.

How'd it go with the bog? It looks like there would hardly be enough meat to hold it in some spots?

I'm slowly learning (the hard way) do things once properly - it's alot easier. Similar to the old saying - the poor man pays twice lol.
