Re: easy fit extractors for GTO 4G 52 engine

Your likely only option is custom as anything from a sigma/l200 wont fit without a major rebuild due to the tight fit between gearbox and steering box, which would probabely cost more than custom. The other problem you might have is that there were 2 different exhaust bolt patterns for the 4g52 GTO ...

Re: Dohc g63 plenum. Which way did you go?

The evo4 manifold needs the holes for the injectors in the manifold to be blocked(jb weld or welded) and the flange needs to be trimmed at the front so that it doesn't hit the back of the timing gear cover. The top of the flange also has to be trimmed so the injectors can be fitted into the head. On...

Re: 1973 Galant 16L lowering

If you shorten the strut tubes you will have to get a cert. If you use shorter travel shock inserts, appropriately modified springs and you still have sufficient travel you wont need a cert (but the police will still give you a hard time if at the wrong place at the wrong time). The Autolign guys pr...

Matt, are you willing to get your car certified? If so then go with a set of weld on coilovers in the front. If not you could use shorter shock inserts and cut and reshaped/reset lowering springs, but if you go this way make sure you get it done properly, talk to the guys at Autolign (I have used th...

Re: 76 Colt Galant GTO GSR 2000

I've used Scotch Super 33+ vinyl electrical tape and its pretty good to use. I would avoid self amalgamating or cloth tape at all costs as both will be a nightmare to repair if something goes wrong. For the ultimate in easy repair a good quality non adhesive loom tape, but I found that it's very har...

Here is the factory battery tray/ heat shield.

The radio face is plastic under the chrome and it's quite a specialised job to re-chrome. It can be very difficult to strip the old chrome off without damaging the plastic.

Yes the battery support frame is spot welded in place, but the actual factory tray/heat shield just sits in/on the support frame.

My only suggestion is that you need to vibration isolate the pumps from the body work so the noise/vibration of the pumps isn't transmitted to the cabin as that facet pump can be very noisy if they aren't isolated properly.

Re: My GC Hardtop project

Jason, I think you are over estimating the factory non-turbo output of the dohc 4g63 or are using the wrong units. The dohc 4g63 engine in the 1989 Galant output 145 ps (106.65 kw) / 6000 rpm while the AMG version output 170 ps (125.04 kw) / 6750 rpm. Some of the later high spec engines output was 1...

Re: 4G63 SOHC carby to DOHC Twin Webers

Small port head will have better inlet flow velocity give better cylinder filling at lower engine revs resulting in better lower rev torque. The smaller ports also have better approach to the valves meaning better flow on the short radius side of the valves. The result is a much better, low rev engi...

Re: cracked strut top rubbers

Increased the spring stiffness and/or is the front suspension bottoming out? Either case will shorten the life of strut top rubber. As it appears that you haven't driven with that engine I'd say that they were shagged before you put the v6 in and the extra weight is just opening up the cracks in the...

Re: Getting power hungry...

I would personally would avoid a 4g5x in a 16L as 4g52 from a GTO is a very tight fit length ways due to the shorter engine bay in the 16L and the later 4g5x would be even worse having an even longer rocker cover. If you wanted to approach the swap as an on-going development project the simplest fir...
