Hey Daynam,

I was speaking to Richard (who I think you bought it from)? How are you going with it?

Just found out it's up and running again.
Can't say I spend time on forums these days but there's a wealth of info here so good to see it's still going.

Bolt-on vented upgrade for Sigma (cast) struts

Hi all, Here's a cost-effective CAST Sigma strut (3 bolt pattern) brake upgrade. As we know, these struts are a great bolt-on upgrade for GA-D Galants and LA-LC Lancers. I've done two of these now so thought I would share the process - no responsibility taken obviously for other people's work/interp...

Re: Galant 71 colt Parts needed

Hi, Sorry for the delayed response - the forum is pretty quiet these days with everyone on FB and the like.... Any GA,B,C,D diff will fit, body panels you can likely find on FB Scorpion/Sigma/Galant sales pages. Interior parts, if it is a genuine hardtop (2 dr) will be non-existent in Aus I'm afraid...

Re: Carby/cam options for 4g32

Rebuild the twins - everything else will either cost you money, time or most likely both due to tuning issues. Best bang-for-buck are twin sidedrafts (40 Solexes that came on Toyota twin cams are a great option and cheap) - just have to find a s/h Lynx manifold (Weber Performance do them new but $$$...

Re: Non balance shaft Astrons

Stealth's right - I sourced most of my 52' non balance shaft from a forklift supply side.
Great engine - bulletproof bottom end and the heads can be massively ported (H)
Finding bits for rebuilds are getting harder though - NZ still has stock around the place - check with some of the NZ lads.

Re: My 4G32 rally engine project

G'day. Having run 4G32's in GA/GB rally cars back in the 80's, may I ask why why the belt drive?? I read through the thread and while there is some interesting angles to the project, belt drives are universally known as 'boat anchors' - heavy with less than stunning potential - plus the buttery cran...

G'day. Having run 4G32's in GA/GB rally cars back in the 80's, may I ask why you're bothering with a belt drive?? They are universally known as 'boat anchors' - heavy and less than stunning performance (even when modified) - not to mention the buttery crank........ I truly don't wish to put a dampen...

G'day, I assume NZ based? Can't help with anyone as I'm in Oz but might first thought is that twin 40's are a little small for a 2.0 with a cam.........? They can be jetted up to suit your application but probably less than ideal. I'm sure someone else on the forum will be along shortly to add to th...

True, though all my Mitsu's over the years have never really been daily drivers so it never really bothered me so much.
The worst part is I had all the numbers for a close-ratio Hollinger Jap box written in a notebook from one of my old rally cars but do you think I can find it find it......?? :banh:

Re: my diff/brake upgrade

Really?? If you're running a 4G32 you'd have no pull at all. It'd be like driving a Honda Scamp with four rugby players on board :P I remember an old GB of mine had a 3.9 with a jap box (and a good horsepower 2.2 non-balance shaft Astron) that you could easily run the dial off the speedo and easily ...

Re: my diff/brake upgrade

Yes, 3.9's are good for road cars but 4.6 to 4.8's are perfect for rally cars - top-end speed isn't so much of a priority - it's more about punch between corners :D

Re: my diff/brake upgrade

EX Lancer LSD centre into Scorpion housing......or an L200 4WD LSD centre ;-)
But I guess you're stuck with the Galant rear end for Historic so the only answer is a works 4.6 LSD at around $1200 :(

Re: my diff/brake upgrade

I guess all diff upgrades require some fabricating but I found a really easy one - get a scorpion complete rear end, cut off all the mounts and weld on leaf spring mounts and fit starion rotors and calipers - done!

Re: Steering Issue

Sounds like something simple but perhaps keep in mind the following if it still hasn't been resolved with the checks as already mentioned. A (fairly unusual) problem we once found with a couple of flogged-out lower arms is the balljoint circlip can be installed incorrectly and not actually doing it'...

Re: Brake Bias Valves

Yep, they are a pretty easy mod. Either mounted next to the handbrake or just in front/below the drivers seat on the trans tunnel so it's out of sight a little. Easy enough to fit with a basic pipe flaring toolkit (Total/All-Tools) and a new length of brake line to fit from the unit to the flex hose...

Re: Little problem with ABBY's wheel?

Every single Galant I've owned (quite a few over the years) has had slightly different wheel-to-panel alignment from left to right hand side. The passenger sides have always had the wheel sitting further out to varying degrees on different cars. I'm surprised no-one has commented on the diffs either...

Ha, yes, perhaps a little harsh but he's on and off the throttle too much - too tentative. An engine like that loves to rev and you need to keep 'up it' - crucial in a bitumen motorkhana - wheelspin is king and the car is sooo much easier to drive - far more fluid! (but yes, nit-picking perhaps :D )...
